This week we wrapped up our unit on place value and number operations. The students have worked hard on building their understanding, applying various strategies and problem-solving. Another big part of this unit was looking at how to explain our reasoning. As mathematicians, it is important to be able to communicate your understanding using precise language and defend your perspective/strategy.
For our STP unit, we explored the Sustainable Development Goals. We spent some time thinking about our values and prioritizing the 17 goals according to which we feel were the most important. We also spent time in literacy reflecting on our persuasive writing to see how we are doing as writers, what we are doing well and what our next steps are. Both of these are going to help us next week as we begin our activist speeches.
The big highlight this week was playing dodgeball and capture the flag as a grade level today. Students worked with their houses to show their team spirit and had a great time!
