Dear Parents,                       

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the families joining Reception A this year.

The next few weeks will be an exciting time for everyone. No doubt you have many questions about what to expect in the first days of school. You will be introduced to all of our routines and procedures during our upcoming Curriculum Day on Friday 24th August but we want to highlight a few that will hopefully make the transition easier for you and your child.

Arrival and Dismissal

Please take the time to familiarise yourself with how we manage these routines. Talking about it with your child will help to set them up for success.

School Bag

The bag or backpack should be large enough to hold the school folder (A4 sized) and easy enough for your child to open and close independently. Please do not send in large ‘suitcase’ types of bags with wheels, etc. as they do not fit in our cubbies. Please ensure that your child’s name is clearly labeled on their belongings.


A timetable has be posted on the class website for your reference. However, the first weeks will be spent getting to know one another and the routines we have in the class.


Music and Movement

Music and Movement for Reception A class will be on Monday and Wednesday, and our Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) will be on Friday. Children should wear their house uniform for the entire day on these three days of the week.


Please send a nutritious snack to school (suggestions: small sandwiches, crackers, fruit, vegetables, cheese, etc.) We strongly discourage cookies and treat type foods that contain high percentages of sugar. Please ensure that your child is able to open and close their snack containers. A small easy to open water bottle should also be included. Again, please ensure that your child’s name is clearly written on their snack container/water bottle.

Extra Clothing – learning can be messy!

Please keep a full change of clothes in a plastic bag inside your child’s bag, labeled with your child’s name. Include underwear, socks, t-shirt, shorts & pants.


Information on communication will be shared on Curriculum Day. 


Please do not send in toys, unless you are asked to do so for a specific activity. Please do not allow your child to wear jewellery to school as it may get lost or broken or be a safety concern on the playground.


From time-to-time your child may need to bring money to school for a specific purpose.  Please ensure that all money is placed in a ziplock bag, clearly labeled with your child’s name, and placed inside of their communication (zippered) folder.

Weather Warnings

If a Typhoon 3 or Red Rain signal has been hoisted, there will be no classes for Pre Reception/ Reception students.

Hours of operation

  • Reception Class (AM Section) – 7:30am to 10:20am.  Arrive at school with other full-day students. Bus departure 10:30 am.
  • Reception Class (PM Section) – 11:30 am to 2:20 pm (arrive at school at 11:30am).  

Staggered Entry

Please be sure to check which days your child will attend school next week  Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday). Also please be aware that Friday, August 24th is reserved for parents to attend the Curriculum Day. There is no school for students.
