week 13 reflection

This week I worked in making questions for my exhibition. we also did not have school on Monday or Wednesday due to protests. during the protests, Mr. Brody assigned us homework so what I was doing over the weekend was homework and video games. Now a lot of the protests died down but they are still happening. But there are still no ASA’s for the lower school, but there are still ASA’s for upper school. we learned about different math strategies and tools and when to use them. one of the strategies that we learned about prime factorization.

weekly reflection week 6

this week I did a lot of different things like science experiments and a lot of different things. For home learning, I wrote an essay for the free write category it was called the mask.

The Mask

Your walking home from school after a late swimming practice and you find a suspicious box laying on your front step. You look at it wondering if it was sent for you or your parents. You check the label and it has your name on it you bring it inside and open it there is a green wooden mask inside if it. You examine the mask. It seems to have carved spirals around the eyes and cheeks. You try the mask on and it fits perfectly. You try to take it off but you cant it has formed around your face with a lunitune like look. You run to the bathroom and it seems that you have super speed you wonder how this happened. You think that you have superpowers and try it again and you still go super fast your fascinated by how fast you go and wonder if it is all a dream so you go to bed.

The next morning to find the mask laying on the bed next to you. You pick it up and throw it out the window and find the mask reappear in your hands so you throw it out the window again and find that the mask soots right back to you and hit you in the head. You decide to put it in a drawer and go to school. You always hated school and you absolutely hated math but you knew that it was important to get a good education so you study hard and try your best. When you got home you took out the mask and put it on your face and the mask grasped to your face again and you took out your candy from yesterday the and candy turned into a sword and he pulled again and got a fish. He imagined a guitar and pulled one out of his pocket he was excited and started running around in circles and slipped and fell. He imagined MONEY and pulled out money out of his pocket and did it over and over and ended up with 100 million dollars. He told his mom when she came home from work and she was flabbergasted and he could not believe what she heard. She became greedy and took the mask from you when you were sleeping and put it on herself and she ran around town not knowing what she has done the mask was turning red and then she started to go crazy and started stealing from other people and doing all sorts of crazy stuff. The police came after her and eventually, after 1 hour they cot her and put her in jail and the mask was confiscated and dropped into an active volcano never to be seen again.

that was my essay for home learning. I also made a math problem that was related to algebra this is what  it looked like

Bob makes scarves for his company and made a graph for how many he will make in a certain amount of time. (can you figure out the number of scarves he will make in 57 hours) figure out a formula

How many scarves will bob make in 57 hours

H = hours

S = scarfs

this week I also did an experiment on how baking powder or soda changed the consistency of a cookie.

mu hypothesis was…  hypothesis: I think that the baking powder and soda will make the cooky a different consistency and change the flatness of them. I believe this because baking powder and soda have sodium bicarbonate and when it comes in contact with a liquid it releases carbon dioxide bubbles. Baking powder and baking soda are both leavening agents which means that they are in the same category as yeast and many other things The difference between baking soda and baking powder is that baking soda is plane sodium bicarbonate while baking powder is made of multiple things including sodium bicarbonate, calcium acid phosphate, sodium aluminum sulfate.

that was my hypothesis. and this is how you conduct the experiment.

1 cup butter

I cup sugar

2 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

2 cup flour

1 tsp Baking soda

1 tsp Baking powder

1 tblsp of Salt

2 tsp of vanilla

preheat oven to 190 cº

Beat 1/4 cup of butter and 1/4 cup of sugar together

add 1/2 egg and 1/2 tsp vanilla and keep beating

Gradually stir in 1/2 cup of flour tblsp salt

do this 4 times

Make one group have baking Soda and baking Powder

The other one will have baking Soda

The other baking Powder

The last won’t have any

put in the oven for 8-40 mins

that is what I did for this week at CDNIS!!

week 4 reflection

In my 4th week in school, I did a lot of different things. one of the things that I did was a science experiment on how food coloring acts differently in water at different temperatures.  during this experiment, we used water that was room temperature, hot, and cold. every 2 minutes we measured the Temperature this is what my graph looked like.

During this week it was also pancake pajama day so we got to wear our pajamas to school and if you paid $39 hong kong dollars then you get to have pancakes for lunch. everyone had different pajamas and all of them were diverse in colors. lots of people were wearing onesies.

For home learning, I did a lot of wrighting, this was my writing

The Woman

He heard the girl screaming in the distance. He was at least an hour from his home. The long walk in the night air had done him well. He felt rejuvenated until he heard the screaming, in the distance. He took his one headphone out of his ear, so he could possibly get a direction to go to find her.

He had stopped jogging and now roamed a large stone fence, listening. As he came to a break in the fence he could hear she was only a short distance away. He looked up to see, illuminated by the street lights, “Allan Park Memorial Cemetery.” He passed under the sign, and headed for the screams and saw a woman in a dark pinkish mask pulling the girl into the bushes he called the cops and followed the screams into the bushes.

The screams led to an old church with mossy stones and battered grass. The girl screamed help from the top floor and the and the woman laughed maniacaly. He heard slow footsteps coming down the stairs and the woman was still laughing. He hid in the bushes and waited for the woman to pass. He slowly walked out of the bushes and crawled up the stairs constantly looking behind him to see if the woman came back. He found the girl looking out the window tied to a chair with a metal-like helmet on with a timer that was almost up. He walked in front of the girl and two metal pieces clamped to her jaw. The timer was at 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! The to pieces shot up and down pulling the girl’s jaw around her skull and blood splattered everywhere. He covered his eyes from the blood and saw that the woman was behind the girl wearing a pig mask and smiling. The woman looked at him and walked slowly towards him still grinning with blood-covered hands and grabbed him cover his mouth and said softly hope you go to heaven then slit his throat while laughing.

this wrighting is important to me because I spent a lot of time editing and revising it n plain out writing it. I learned a lot this week and a lot of things about my classmates and I hope I will have another awesome week like this week at CDNIS!

Weekly reflection 😁

This week I made a lot of new friends and we did a lot of experiments during the matter rotations and with our buddies. I learned about the different states of matter and how they changed state.

I did a lot of experiments such as baking cookies and why the flatten, and how laser printer and a 3D printer. my favorite experiment was making a lava lamp. These are the ingredients:

  1.  <50ml water
  2. 50ml oil
  3. Alka seltzer tablets
  4. Food dye

this is how we conducted the experiment

  1. Pour the oil in a cup
  2. Pour water in cup
  3. Add food dye
  4. Put an Alka Seltzer tablet
  5. Watch.

The seltzer tablet had a chemical reaction with the water creating carbon dioxide bubbles surrounded by water. The oil did not mix with the water because they are different densities so they will not mix. The water slowly fell down once the carbon dioxide was released.
