Uke Eastside project

I have spent about 1 month doing this Uke project and I have chosen Eastside by Benny Blanco with Halsey and Khalid

How is your recording the same as the original song? Why did you do this? *
My song also uses the bass and the same drums as the original song, I put them there because I did not want to be too far apart from the original song and I wanted to use the same instruments because it would change the mood of the song if I had used a different instrument for the melody and notes

How is your recording different compared to the original song? What were your reasons behind your decisions? *
my recording is faster than the original song, I did this because I couldn’t get the notes exactly on the exact same beat as the original song and so I could make it more my own and not exactly the same and also has a few more instruments than the original song, I did this because I wanted to make the beat and the notes more clear, I also added the piano for a more vivid beat.

Discuss the following skills in relation to your Ukulele song choice…

Be specific to earn your grade!

Ukulele Skills… *
I learned new cords on the Ukulele and also got much better and changing cords in the song to get the beat correct. I also got better at getting the right cords without looking at the ukulele.

Garageband editing – digital instrument, drum use… *
When I did not get the note exactly on the right beat for the piano, I learned how to edit the notes onto the right beat, this also helped with the drums because it sounded much better when I was finished editing, for my singing, I recorded my singing for every 10 beats and then stopped and started the second one and again and again.

Time management for your project… *
for the first part of the month in this project, I was not very productive and what is worse is that I sucked at using the keyboard as the piano, so I had to seek lots of help from my friends and finally got the notes for the piano playing, in the middle, I was a lot more productive and got a lot of my drums and singing done there, and about a week before, I completed the singing and the ukulele, I just needed to finish the piano, and I completed and fixed up the loose ends.

Independent learning… (responsibility of getting things done on time) *
I think my time management could definitely do better for an example, for a week, I can focus on one part of the recording and do that. I could also do better with the piano and bass, thus completing the work on time and maybe early.

Amazing grace UKE assessment

What is the key of your tune? Time Signature? *
The key of tune is C major and the time signature is 3 and 4
What sort of rhythms are used in your song? How were they used musically? *
It starts with a G and goes up till E which is a half note, after that it slowly descend in tone and continues in this pattern for some time and goes till a G that is a 3 beat note and continues in the same pattern again, the song hits a suddenly higher note and descends till a very low note which is a half-beat and then with the same note and sound, the song ascends and has the same 2 notes D, the song continues to ascend till a very long A which is 4 beats and a rest as it’s end.
Discuss your note accuracy and rhythm accuracy in regards to your strumming and melodic playing… *
I did well on the accuracy of the rhythm but lacked accuracy in regards to strumming, I did not get many of the strumming changes on the right beat and was late for some of the note changes, I did not properly get the beats the strumming, some of it was faster and louder and some of it (most of it) was slower and much more delayed than it should have been.
What Ukulele skills have you acquired? Chords, melody, etc. *
I have learned a lot about the Melody and how to do that part of the Ukulele, and it makes the song sound a lot better, I have also learned how to put my Melody in beat with the singing I did for this assessment, one of the key things I have learned is what type of strumming and speed of the song can affect the actual song in different ways, like the Island strum, which is the one I used, it made it sound more smooth and soothing.
How did you decide your tempo to match your song and style? Did the context of the song change because of this? *
I chose 80 because it was slow enough for my taste, I think it would of sounded too weird if it was faster than I already put it, I chose this tempo also because I did not want the tempo to be too slow at the same time, I think I chose the perfect tempo for the song, since it was a slow and calm song, if it had been faster, it would lose it’s meaning.
How did you use the editing tools in Garageband? Trimming, Cutting, pasting, metronome, etc… *
I mostly used trimming for the parts that were not in beat like the Melody because that was the first recording so I made it too slow and could not say the words of the song and had to record that part again, like the strumming, did well in the end but I had to attempt 3 times to finally get it right the last time, the singing I did not need to trim or cut any of it
Discuss your recording process; recording bar at a time, chord at a time, in phrases? Did you have any concerns or issues? *
I first recorded the singing and made sure it did not sound like a dieing horse, luckily it did not, after the singing I did the melody, making sure all the different notes were correct, I did have to cut a lot because it was out of beat, for some of the melody notes I had to record separately because I kept messing up the timing and thought it would just be better to record it separately, for the strumming I chose the island strum because I thought it sounded better, for the strumming I did not really need to trim or cut it, I just had to attempt a few times to get it all right

My instrement choice

My favorite flute player is Elisabeth Wentland she is really good and she always plays a nice melody and she is one of the only flute players I know, the other one is my flute teacher Nelson.

I have already learned the flute for around half a year and I know the simple things like notes and the beats/counts, and I really enjoy it. I will still explain how to play, clean it and put it together

For cleaning the flute usually, there is a piece of cloth and a stick-like thing that you use, all you need to do is put the corner part of the cloth put it through the hole in the stick and then wrap the cloth around it and put it through the parts of the flute, and to clean the outside there is another cloth that you use to clean and it is usually blue

For playing it will explain in the book and you will learn it, for B you press the top 2 buttons

Unité 1 Parlez-vous Français Le Critère C et D à l’oral

I chose Matthew because I worked well with him and I had good chemistry, we worked well together but we just barely got it on the deadline. I got a 5 out of 8 but I felt like I could have done better, I had bad pronunciation skills and that ruined my score, if I had remembered how to say some of the words I would have gotten a higher score. Next time we do this I will do better and learn the words more thoroughly.

Exhibition is over!!!

well as you can tell from the title Exhibition is over! so much work had been put into this and it is just done, it’s finished! I feel so FREE! woohoo!!! Sorry I get a little carried away doing that, so anyway, I believe that the exhibition was a good experience and I had a lot of fun doing it, there were some rude and nice and I can tell that a lot of people liked it, most of my classmates liked it cuz we did not have Chinese and we were in the library for most of the day.

in case you didn’t know my topic is light pollution and I loved it, I had a lot of people that came and I really enjoyed it. to be honest I don’t really want to do these reflections and just not think about the exhibition because it makes me want to break something so yeah (CRASH!) yeah I just broke my glass cup so I am probably going to have to end things as soon as I can but I don’t really want to leave you all hanging (although) I need to stop so I don’t break anything else so ya byeeeeeeeee!

Exhibition in 7 days reflection

The exhibition is in almost a week and I need to do a reflection on it because I have heard so far in CDNIS is that it is all about reflections and reflecting on everything that we do, so here it is, the BIG reflection for the exhibition.

So far in the exhibition, I have been doing well and I think that I have everything all set and I am ready to present with my good friend Matthew (who is doing Noise Pollution) I have a good feeling about this, mostly because I have everything I need to do the exhibition. I have gone through so many great things during the exhibition and I hope for the best (literally all I wrote 118 words and I don’t really know what to write so I am going to do)

My knaulage on light pollution so far

After months and months of research and discovery, I believe I know a fair bit about light pollution and I believe I am now an expert! I will explain light pollution in as long of a draft as possible.

Light pollution is very different from other types of pollution, unlike air or sea pollution, light pollution is reversible and we can do something to reduce it, it is not permanent.

Light pollution is a type of pollution that can harm you in secret and not many people know about it and we are all unknowingly contributing to it. Light pollution can have many harmful in many ways, and I am going to talk about those ways today.

The first and most harmful way is your mental health, light pollution can cause high amounts of stress as you cannot sleep and are always drowsy or tired, this can also mess up your sleeping habits, and that leads to the second reason why Light pollution is so harmful, light pollution can really mess up your sleep as it can actually go through the smallest cracks in curtains and it will keep you awake.

I think that Light pollution is a very serious not many people appreciate the beauty of lights in the city but the people that are taking action are smart like me(yeah just kidding I am stupid as heck)
