Project Genesis Mashup

Explain the step by step process of this assignment… *
First of all, I learned some practical tips and shortcut keys in GarageBand, so that I can make my mashup more convenient and fast. Secondly, I started to edit my mashup according to the criteria I set according to my requirements, and then I watched The videos and materials posted by the teacher to solve my difficulties.
Assess your success against your assessable criteria from your proposal…
Here are my criteria
1. My mashup takes at least three minutes.
2. My mashup contains at least three songs.
3. Swear words and insulting words must not appear in my mashup.
4. There are at least two styles of music in my mashup.
In my project, all the four requirements I set up have been met, so I think that my own requirements are successful.
Evaluate your learning and new skills acquired.
This project allowed me to re-understand the definition of mashup. I searched for many materials and some famous mashups on the Internet, and I got a lot of inspiration from them. For example, mashup uses the music version and a vocal version of several songs. The rhythm of the song can be different but the tone of the song should be as close as possible.
What challenges did you face and overcome?
In the beginning, I didn’t make the rhythm of the two songs the same, so there are many melodies and songs that do not match. Later, I watched the video sent by my teacher and taught me how to adjust the rhythm in a Garage band.

This website helps me better understand the preparations I need to make before doing mashups so that I do n’t get messy when doing it. At the same time, he also gave some small suggestions such as getting the song structure right, match the music key…

This is a video from Mr.O’Tool. It records how to keep mashup in the same beat, it is really detailed, I think it’s going to help me in my project.

Project Genesis Crit C

What is the goal for your assignment and why?

My goal for this assignment is to reach 7 because last year I misunderstand what Mashup means and I did not get a good grade. This time I want to make up for the mistakes I made before, and not only to understand mashup but also to make it a skill of my own.

Outline/Process (Steps) to Achieve Goal.

I will make a plan for myself before officially starting my project. I will find the music of the same genre, which will make it easier when I do mashups. Then I will modify my work according to the requirements on Rubric. At the same time, I will also listen to other people’s mashup, maybe I can learn a lot from it. This is what I am going to do.

What criteria will you use to self assess this assignment?

Here is my criteria:
1. My mashup takes at least three minutes.
2. My mashup contains at least three songs.
3. Swear words and insulting words must not appear in my mashup.
4. There are at least two styles of music in my mashup.

December response

Discuss your practice routines and development on your instrument. *
After joining the band this semester, I tried a variety of instruments, not only drums, but also mallets, chimes, triangles, and base drums. I believe I will be proficient in various instruments required for percussion in the future. But drum drums are still my main instrument because I used to be jazz-oriented, but after joining the band, I adapted to many styles.

How successful were you at your theory test? Discuss the concepts that you did not master. *
Music theory is really difficult for me. I am a drummer, so I have never learned music theory before. I got a 1 on the first test, which is really what I expected. After returning from experience week, I took two retests and finally got 4. Although the score is not very high, I am still very satisfied.

What are your strategies to improve results in the subsequent months? *
Over the next few months, I will work hard to practice my instrument and submit all assets in time. If there is a music theory test, I will study hard.

How do you show the IB Learner Profile in the music class? *
If I have any questions, I will communicate more with the teacher and actively ask for help.
