Cdnis 2020 Project Genesis

Explain the step by step process of this assignment… *
I started by spending some time choosing what i wanted to do. When i decided that i wanted to do a mashup i started looking for songs that i thought would work well togeether. When i found these however i had to download the videos and convert them to mp3 fils before they could be used.
Assess your success against your assessable criteria from your proposal… *
I believe that i partially met the criteria, however i wasn’t able to smooth the transition that well.
Evaluate your learning and new skills acquired. *
I learned how to fix the music to a certain time in addition i also learned how to dowload youtube videos for later use and finally i improved on my ability to create transitions whilst improving identification of parts of a song that could be used with other songs.
What challenges did you face and overcome. *
At first i had a difficult time trying to find a way to import the songs to garageband. When i overcame this i had to pursue multiple mp4 – mp3 converter websites in order to convert the songs i had chosen. I had an exceptionally hard time trying to smooth the transition via changing audio or inserting different transitions from the songs.

Culminating assigment

Describe the process of this assignment. *
When I was given this assignment I went around the school searching for sounds I could record, I had originally recorded the sounds on my phone but due to me being unable to extract the files onto my computer I re-recorded them on my computer. After choosing and recording the sounds I started experimenting on them with plugins from Garageband. When I was happy with how I changed the sounds using plugins I recorded a 2-minute long video describing the sounds I chose and how I changed them. When I finished the video I started to think about what I wanted to do for my actual project. I began to experiment with some of my cdnis sounds first to see which ones could go together. After getting a rough idea of how the original sounds worked together i began listening to loops from the Garage Band sound library until i found some that i liked, however, I was unable to fit all these loops into my project due to assorted issues such as them not being similiar to pre existing parts of my project or me unable to make the transition smooth. After i finished my loops and my sounds i experimented with the different drum tracks avaliable on garage band, eventually i chose jesse. Finally, when i was complete with my loops, my sounds and my drum track i added my 2 software instruments the piano and the organ, for these instrument i attempted to sync them with my drum track.

Discuss your CDNIS sounds and how useful they were for your end product. *
The sounds that i used were, Mr Schmalenberg saying last person, air outside of the music room, a water fountain and a door closing. These sounds provided the basis of my entire project, In addition the sounds served as my transitions between the different parts of my project. Edited versions of the sounds also supplemented the Garageband tracks to make them sound better, however sometimes the roles were reversed.

Evaluate your learning and new skills acquired. *
In doing this assignment i first learned about the different terminology regarding plugins avaliable and the various functions, In addition while i was trying to apply these plugins i discovered that i could either apply plugins into all the tracks of just a selective one by pressing either track or master, i also discovered that the only way to remove echo easily was by changing the sound level of the entire track by pressing a.

What challenges did you face and overcome? *
.

Ukulele Song (Sunday Morning)

How is your recording the same and different compared to the original song? What were your reasons behind your decisions? *
To be honest I didn’t really plan it out to the point where I deliberately considered the differences back when I was doing the recording but looking back I’m pretty sure that for one I made the ukelele a lot more obvious instead of hiding it in the background and also I added traces of the bass into the song. but I guess I wanted to make sure people could identify what I used because in the original song I didn’t take notice of the instruments involved.

Topics to talk about in the next answer – Learning to strum, Garageband editing, singing, drum track input, time management, accountability, independent learning etc…

How did your music classes prepare you for this assignment? *
During my music lessons, I learned how to basically do the assignment, throughout the classes I learned everything from ukelele strumming to inputting the mp3. However independent learning and time management was already taught to me by other teachers in three different schools and thus music only built on the foundation in that area. However, one thing that music didn’t improve or teach was singing, I never really liked singing and music classes at CDNIS during G7 don’t have singing as part of the curriculum.

Ukulele – Amazing Grace

i chose the song Amazing Grace and I learned the basics of playing the ukulele having never played it before including the chords and how to play the various notes on the ukulele

i’m not that good at editing because of me preferring the using live loops in garage band to make mini wordless songs. my bad editing skills resulted in me wasting precious time learning how to edit effectively using garage band.
