We are supposed to pick an instrument that we want to learn for the remainder of the Music Fine Arts Rotation. I chose Clarinet because I think that it would be cool to learn. I also have never tried it.
Here is some information:
HOW TO SET UP THE CLARINET
Open the case. You want to make sure that the case is on the right side otherwise all the pieces will fall and they might break
When you open the case, You take the reed and put it in your mouth. Suck on it until it is wet (slightly).
Take the longest piece of the clarinet. That is the bottom piece. Then take the bell.
Fasten the bell and the bottom piece together.
Then take the top piece of the clarinet. Fasten it onto the bottom piece and the bell.
Take the mouthpiece and then put it onto the barrel.
Put the mouthpiece part onto the bell part.
Take the reed out of your mouth and put it onto the flat surface on the mouthpiece.
Take the ligature and then use it to fasten the reed onto the mouthpiece. The tighteners go on the right.
In case you were wondering, ya summer break was good. This is my first 7th Grade Blog Post.
My task was to do a french introduction. I was partners with Nic (My Fellow 6C Newbie) and I think that we did pretty well. Now I have to do a reflection on how I think I did. So here it is!
I think that I did pretty well. I got a 6 out of 8 and for a beginner, I think that that is a pretty good score. I mispronounced “tu aimes”, “c’est” and “au milieu”. I showed enthusiasm when I spoke and I think that I spoke pretty decently. (for a first-timer)! I think that Nic and I need to cooperate better and work together better so that we know what lines each other is speaking because we got confused a lot. I think that I need to manage my time better making the script and recording because we almost didn’t have time to record the audio. We also need to practice more because we made a few careless mistakes.
Now I know what I need to improve on and I hope that I won’t make those mistakes again in the future

For all those stalkers on my blog, I did it! I completed my first year at CDNIS and it was awesome! I’m sad that some of my friends are leaving the school like Desmond. Some of my key highlights this year are The Young Americans, Camp, (Pretty much every spotlight) It was really fun being shown around the school, finding out where everything is and overall making new friends! I am sad that school is over but it’s not goodbye, Its see ya later. I am so ready to come back to school next year! Thanks, CDNIS, Thanks, Mr Mark and all my Specialist Teachers. Hi, my name is Matthew. This is my Chinese beam design. I drew a Ying Yang because it has two colours – Black and White. Black represents bad and White represents good. When they are together, it represents a balanced life. I also drew a Lion, a Dragon and some Lanterns. I drew the lion and the Dragon because they represent Power. Lanterns also have a connection to Festivals.
Exhibition is over and to be honest, I think that the presentation was easier than the preparation. I think that exhibition was a good experience. I learnt that big projects have to be planned very carefully. I think that my exhibition was a bit rushed because I didn’t have enough time to do most of my things. Exhibition was actually easier and calmer than I thought because I thought that there will be judges and people with clipboards. Exhibition was a big worry for me for a long time but now that it is over, I feel like a big weight has been lifted off my chest. That was exhibiton. It’s a Wrap.
I am definitely calm and prepared for exhibition. (if you didn’t realise, That was sarcasm) I am mildly freaking out right now and doing really well to hide it. For all I know, I have been working well and being chilled the whole week. and then freaking out inside. My topic has a bit of stress in it and I am working on a way to counter stress and noise pollution. (My topic) You can say that I am a hypocrite. My staging is simple and ok. It’s just a table with my stuff on it. I also have a bookshelf and I can stick stuff on it. I think that My exhibition is coming together pretty ok and I am pretty confident about it.
Energy sharing was fun because I like talking to people I don’t know and I like being able to share my ideas with others. We had to choose an “Option A or B” kinda project. I chose option B because it had art included and I like drawing. Option B was that we had to create a diagram or a drawing of an energy system and show it to some third graders. Option A was more of a logic writing thing so I didn’t really choose that. I probably draw better than I rite or spel. I think that I did a pretty good job because all my “Graphing our Knowledge” sheets all have good marks on them. (I only got 3 because my presentation was long) I had a lot of info and I joked around a bit so I think that that was a good combination for a fun afternoon. I really like talking to random people and I’m not scared of public speaking (Unlike the other 75% of the population who are scared of public speaking. Cough cough the other 238 million people cough cough) I feel kinda bad for the kids that were listing to me because I think that I was all facts and I was really boring and dull and monotone. I know that if Third Grade Me was listening to me talk I would be asleep.
I think that My ignite talk was a success because I managed to deliver my speech with the slides successfully.
First I had to write a script for the speech and I did it for Home Learning. We were also given time in class (Steps for Success). I had a few problems with the speech so I had to re-do the whole script. After a few more minor edits, I managed to finish my script and print it out.
Writing the script was one thing but filming was a whole different problem. First, Nic and I went to a staircase to film and it had a really bad echo. Secondly, people kept coming up and down from the green roof and they kept getting into our shots. After a good half an hour, we managed to get a good take and went back to the classroom to get started on editing. As you may or may not have expected, we did it wrong. Nic and I used Photobooth instead of Quick Time Player. We couldn’t edit a video on photobooth and we had to go back to the echoing staircase to film for another half an hour.
After Nic and I finished filming, we went to work. I was editing and Nic was writing his script. (Because he was in Japan for two days into our school week) I was done editing and went on to victory! (I think).
