How well did you communicate your experience as a Hong Konger? *
I feel like my piece, although inspired by Cindy and I’s poems, did not really relate to Hong Kong, as there are no obvious signs of Hong Kong and the audience would not be able to make a connection between our artwork and Hong Kong. Because I have lived in Hong Kong my entire life, My experience in Hong Kong isn’t as unique as others, what others deem as special I see as everyday life. My experience as a Hong Konger is understanding the beauty of Hong Kong is being hidden under the mounds of pollution we cause daily.
How would you describe your personal success as an interdisciplinary learner? *
Our artwork perfectly combines our poems into one unified piece that accurately shows our experience in Hong Kong as grade 8 students. We managed to carry our themes and convey it as well as we could on a non-verbal piece of art. We chose 2 of the 3 arts to focus on, music and visual arts, because we felt like those two media could best carry out our theme and intentions from our original poem. This project helped me a lot in understanding more about my poem because I need help from pictures to fully understand a topic.
How would you describe benefits of the interdisciplinary unit with specific examples. *
It allows students to carry one subject to another. We can use the skills learnt in one subject and use it in others, making none our learning pointless, also improving our real life skills. Students might be better at visual learning than verbal learning so putting those two together would mean students can understand a topic fully and deeply.
What were the limitations of the interdisciplinary unit? Give specific examples… *
This time it was only arts and english, but if the teachers incorporate more subjects for students to choose from, the students would have more space to work with. Also the expectations were a little unclear so it was a little confusing to decide on a piece to work on.

What are your Personal Goals and Intention of this project?
We are going to do a palette knife painting of the Hong Kong sea and recording a timelapse of our project and create some music to go over the time lapse. Since Hong Kong is surrounded by water and we hope to capture the beauty of Hong Kong and express it with something tangible. We hope to convey the feeling of amazement and wonder we both see when we see Hong Kong’s scenery and we hope that the audience can understand how beautiful Hong Kong is Because Hongkongers are very busy and they always rush everywhere, we hope to encourage the audience to slow down and appreciate Hong Kong like we do. Desiree will have to create the 2-minute long audio track while Claudia and Cindy will work on the final artwork.
Hows does this project connect to your English Poem of choice?
Both poems include a lot of imagery and descriptions so having a visual component helps the audience envision what the poem is trying to describe. Cindy’s poem describes the beautiful sunsets of Hong Kong and Claudia’s poem talks about the pollution in Hong Kong’s oceans and harbors. With the painting of the sunset overlooking the ocean, we want the audience to first read our poems and envision what they read and after we show our final artwork. Both our poems are very descriptive and look at Hong Kong in a positive way and because there is a motif of painting/photo in Claudia’s poem, we choose a picture as our media of choice

What materials do you need to complete your project?
For this project, we are going to need a canvas, acrylic/oil paint, acrylic/oil painting tools (painting knives), brushes.
What equipment will you need to present your project?

(Very important if you are doing a live presentation – we need to organise this in advance!)

The equipment we will need to present our project is a canvas stand, a computer, and headphones so that the audience can see our final artwork, view the time lapse of our painting process with Desiree’s background music. (LLAC projector)
Artwork will be presented outside the LLAC

All live presentations and videos will be on the LLAC stage.
