Ukulele Submission – Step 3 – Finished Song – Donkey Riding

1. What is the key of your tune? Time Signature?

The key of my tune was in C major and it was in 2/4.

2. What sort of rhythms are used in your song? How were they used musically?

I used eighth and sixteenth notes. The eighth notes helped push the music and the sixteen notes helped push the music even faster.

3. Discuss your note accuracy and rhythm accuracy in regards to inputting the strumming and melodic playing…

My note accuracy was not accurate at first because I had trouble reading the notes but after attending a couple of zoom sessions with Mr.Otoole I now know almost all the notes.

4. How did you decide your tempo to match your song and style? Did the context of the song change because of this?

The tempo I used was 100 because that was the tempo that Mr. OToole used in the explanation so I thought it would be a good idea. The context of the song changed a little bit because if the song was too fast it would not be a good fit for donkey riding as the pace was only lively but not very fast.

5. What skills did you acquire with your use of Garageband? Trimming, Cutting, pasting, metronome, etc… How did you use these skills throughout the assignment?

Throughout this task, I am now way more confident with Garageband as at the start of this unit I did not know anything about Garageband but now I know a variety of skills on Garageband, for example, trimming the tracks, pasting different sounds around, cutting the length of the chord so it fits with the music and using the metronome to fit with the music.

6. Discuss any challenges you had to overcome for this assignment!

At first, I had some challenges with the audio and the audio was not playing. I also did not know how to cut the music but I figured it out after asking someone. The biggest challenge I faced was not being able to read the notes.

Camp reflection

I thought this year’s camp was amazing, it was much better than last year’s camp in many ways, for example, the food, the activities, the instructors/counsellors, the facilities, my tent group, the tents and pretty much everything. I enjoyed the jetty jump because it is very exciting to be able to jump off something that high because it feels like jumping off a cliff which an exhilarating experience. I also think the instructors were much nicer and how they helped us out a lot. The food this year was way tastier than last year so this a real highlight. Another really big highlight is the tents and how they save you space in your camp bag by providing a sleeping bag and mat for you, I also like how the tents are large and spacious. I also liked the canoeing as we got to canoe to an island and have a picnic there. A very big lowlight for me was the long bus ride from school to outward bound as I get motion sickness so I almost vomited on the bus. One activity that helped me grow as a person was the hiking, this helped me grow because I learnt that if you persevere and keep trying you will succeed at the end.

Oxfam field trip

Today we went to Oxfam to experience what migrant workers in china go through. Even though I already know quite much about the workers problem it was still cool to experience it in real life. The train ride was very cramped and squished and I felt really uncomfortable. I also found out that the work they do in factories are also really boring and cumbersome, for example, the work we did today was to screw nuts onto bolts for like half an hour but after I still felt tired so I just can’t imagine people doing this for around 12 hours a day for 6 days a week. From this trip I learnt that work these workers do is boring and tiring and depressing. I feel very bad for these workers as they have to work very long hours.

weekly reflection

The past two weeks has been awesome because we got a lot of days off because of the typhoon and the 3 way learning reviews the typhoon Mangkhut  was one of the most deadly to ever hit hong kong so many houses were destroyed  and damaged. My house also got a power outage so we had to got to our friends house so we could have light and contact our grand parents to tell them what had happened to our house. We also had 2 days off because the schools had to get time to make repairs. Another very cool thing we had was to have robotics and program our own robots. The 3 way learning conferences were very helpful for me to know my goals and how I can be more successful  in my learning.

weekly reflection

This weeks has been an amazing week as I have learnt lots of math from a website from youcubed. This was one of the biggest highlights of the week.I also learned how to find a pattern rule. I also found out that when you make mistakes your synapses actually fire in your brain to create pathways to help you learn and solve the problem. The picture below shows how I explained my work through pictures numbers and words. This weeks lowlights include forgetting to do my chinese homework so I couldn’t get a star to exchange for free time .My grows for this week are to remember to be more responsible on homework, My glows this week is that I did good in math.

Hope next week can be the best!!!!!!!

Classroom setup projects

The past two weeks we got into groups to help set up our classroom. Jacob and I were responsible for games, so we set up rules for the games in class. We had to make a presentation that showed the essential agreements that we thought of and future games we were planning to play.

Personally I thought Jacob and I worked well together because we accomplished a lot. On Tuesday, Jacob and I ran our first game and it was so much more successful than I imagined. The game that we played was called Categories. Basically, the point of the game is to start with a topic, for example food you go around the circle and name a food but you have three seconds, if you can’t name a food in 3 seconds your eliminated. Another way to get eliminated is if you repeat what someone just said.

Each game has a referee. If you argue with the referee you are out or if you talk while playing when its not your turn you are eliminated.

Here are some Ground rules for all games, first is you can’t argue with the referee, second is to be safe, the third is the referee makes the final decision,

The fourth rule is please don’t talk when it is not your turn, the final rule is have fun.

SLLRS

On Friday we did our SLLRS so we can show our learning with parents. It went ok well with me and my mom but she said my shelf was to messy  but  I showed her a lot of my work and she liked it a lot because she has never heard about it before. My mom said I need to be more efficient on my work and be faster and write more in literacy.  If I got to do this again I will explain to her more so she does not have to keep asking questions. I will do better next time It was good. I shared with my mom what we did. My mom knew what I was discussing about but then she kept saying I am never organised enough and I need to remember to bring things home. Next time I will make sure to make my SLLR more organized.
