Hey Soul Sister Ukulele- Your Choice

Discuss the following creative decisions you made for your song choice…

Be specific to earn your grade!

How is your recording the same as the original song? Why did you do this? *
My recording is the same as the original song because we both have a ukulele in the song and have singing.I tried to also make so chords at the background because it sounds good with the singing and can enhance the sound.

How is your recording different compared to the original song? What were your reasons behind your decisions? *
It is different because I was a bit faster because then it is a bit boring for the listener. I found being a bit faster creates a better rhythm.

Discuss the following skills in relation to your Ukulele song choice…

Be specific to earn your grade!

Ukulele Skills… *
I had to have ukulele skills because I needed to be able to play the song on the ukulele to complete the project. The ukulele was the main part of the song and was the easiest part to complete.

Garageband editing – digital instrument, drum use… *
I used garageband editing especially the digital instrument because that helped alot because it helped create another tune other than the ukulele which sounds better. The drum helped me stay in beat.

Time management for your project… *
I think I used my time well but could have been more effective on the piano and bass because I found that hard to complete. I had planned time for music on the weekends so I think I managed my time well.

Independent learning… (responsibility of getting things done on time) *
I completed it on time but needed to do the reflection the day before it was due. Overall completed it on time and I think my responsibility was good. I think that I could have worked on it a bit more during the week and harder during class.

Ukulele Summative Amazing Grace

What is the key of your tune? Time Signature? *
Amazing grace is in the key of C and there are 3 beats per bar. The time signature is 3/4.

What sort of rhythms are used in your song? How were they used musically? *
The notes are quarter notes , half notes , Whole Notes. In the beginning there were lots of quarter notes. There is a slow paced rhythm. After reaching the middle it repeats the same rhythm again . In the middle there are many 1 quarter notes and half notes. At the end there are also quite a few of 1 quarter Notes and half notes.Discuss your note accuracy and rhythm accuracy in regards to your strumming and melodic playing… *
I played the notes correctly but I could have made the chords and picking a bit more in time because It seemed a bit off. The picking was a bit of a challenge for me because I found getting all the notes correctly hard but got the hang of it at the end.

What Ukulele skills have you acquired? Chords, melody, etc. *
I have learned to be able to read ukulele notes and play the chords. Last year I was only able to strum but after learning and practicing a-lot I have learned how to pluck properly and carefully.

How did you decide your tempo to match your song and style? Did the context of the song change because of this? *
I accidentally made my tempo a bit faster but at the end result I realized that it helped the song become a bit more catchy and more fun. With a faster tempo, it made it seem to sound better.

How did you use the editing tools in Garageband? Trimming, Cutting, pasting, metronome, etc… *
I need to use the cutting tool a-lot because that helped get my music in time. I used the trimming to cut bad parts. I need to use the metronome to keep my voice and strumming and plucking in time and in the same beat. I used the pasting to copy good parts of my singing and paste them in different places.

Discuss your recording process; recording bar at a time, chord at a time, in phrases? Did you have any concerns or issues? *

I had an issue for my singing I was complete of beat but after 10 minutes that was fixed. One of my concerns if it is going to be good. I was worried about some chords that were not in time but after some editing, I fixed it. At one point I could not get the recording device to work but eventually, it worked.

Exhibition Reflection

How do you feel about what or how you have learned?

I feel good about what I have achieved in the exhibition because I feel that I did my action very well.

What were some challenges in this learning?

I think planning everything because if something does not go as planned I need to improvise.

What might you do differently or how could you improve

I think that I would put more things in my process journal and keep track of all my action.

What have you learned about yourself as a learner during this time?
That if I take initiative to do my work I can do really good in my work.
