Amazing grace

What is the key of your tune? Time Signature? *
The key of my version of Amazing Grace is C major. The time signature is 3/4.

What sort of rhythms are used in your song? *
The rhythms that I used in my version of Amazing Grace were Melody strumming of the ukulele and harmony vocal rhythms. I see it as a Scottish ceremony song where the strumming and harmony rhythms must be strong but smooth.

Discuss your note accuracy and rhythm accuracy in regards to your strumming and melodic playing… *
I think my note accuracy was pretty good and I checked it on GarageBand. With respect to my rhythm accuracy, I think I found some cool strum patterns that go quite well with the song and my melodic playing matched the singing and chords.

What Ukulele skills have you acquired? *
The ukulele skills I have acquired are being able to play Amazing Grace finger style, learning new strum patterns, the importance of having my ukulele in correct tune and how to tune it. My home ukulele is high G and my school ukulele is low G and I learned how to do versions of my song with both.

How did you decide your tempo to match your song and style? Did the context of the song change because of this? *
I chose a tempo which was not fast but not slow. I wanted to maintain the traditional feeling of the song. The way I matched the tempo to my song and style was by using the sound waves so I could listen back and it would be on time. The context of the song changed because the feeling of the sound sounded more on time and smoother. I also feel like my version is more true to the original.

How did you use the editing tools in Garageband? Editing, cutting, flex-time, trimming, plugins… *
I experimented with GarageBand but actually did not make that much use of it in my final version as I was pretty happy with what I recorded. When I made a mistake, the split at play head tool (command T) was very useful. it gave me the opportunity to cut out the sections that I did not like and rerecord a new section to replace it. I tried flex-time but was happy with my original version so did not need it.

Discuss your recording process; did you have any concerns or issues? *
During my rerecording process. I had challenges with my ukulele. My ukulele at home was a high G not a low G like the ones at school. When I played Amazing Grace, the first note sounded a lot different. During my rerecording, one of my family members was on the phone and this caused a lot of disruption requiring a lot of rerecording. I am grateful that you gave me a second chance to do this project and I had a holiday to have the time to redo it as I enjoyed playing the ukulele and I started to appreciate GarageBand as I better understood it.
Dear Mr Otoole I redid my formative hopefully I can get a better mark

weekly reflection

This week we did our second week of learning cohorts we made our essential agreements and shared our purpose we also planed things like go to the HK history museum and meet with the experts and interview them I and another kid are the only people doing politics.

We also started a new unit it was about sustainable energy I am interested because in grade 3 we also did a unit about energy.

So I think this was a pretty good week

five slides

This week I did my five slides presentation. Basically, you have five slides with only words and you have to make a speech to talk about each slide. I think I did ok but I stammered and paused too much. I did not look straight into the camera and looked down a lot but I think the speech I wrote was really interesting as it explained every slide well in detail overall I think I worked very hard on this task and enjoyed doing it

here is my video hope you enjoy

Learning Cohorts

This week we started learning cohorts. We each were put in a group depending on our topic. my topic was in politics, so I was put in the society cohort. The society cohort was in the same room as the science and technology cohort.

On the first day, all we really did was create some learning cohort essential agreements. One of them was respect other cohort members research. We also shared what our topics were and our purpose. My favourite part was taking our mugshot photos.

I think I really enjoyed the first day of learning cohorts and can’t wait for the second meeting!

This week we went on a field trip to Oxfam. It was very interesting, and we got to learn about people who worked in factories. We also did a role play on these people from parts of China. The role play was about, this boy who wanted money and had big goals. Although he never achieved them because his parent’s residency was farmers which makes him a farmer too. Sadly, in the end, he jumped off a building due to depression

This week we also had a house spirit day. House spirit day is when we all get in our school houses and play tug of war we put face paint on and we have a dance off my house was the ravens so I had a lot of fun in-house day

All in all, I think I had a pretty good week

Weekly Reflection

Weekly Reflection

This week we shared math strategies with our groups.  we each had different strategies. Mine was called partial product multiplication. this is when you multiply using place value.  Everyone had different strategies but we all got in groups to share them.

I also had my pyp exhibition proposal.   I passed! yay for pyp I am doing the most important tzars in the Romanov dynasty.  I am also doing a little bit of research on Vladimir Lenin due to the Russian revolution.

All in all, I think I had a really good week and I am very excited about the exhibition

My Goals

My Goals

This week we set up goals in class we all had different goals depending on where we are in learning here are some of the goals i made up

My first goal is that i have to use my time efficiently at all times this is so I can get things done faster. But you may be wondering how I will achieve this goal, well I will time myself on how long I take on each task.

My second goal is I will organize my materials so I won’t lose them because if I lose something important like my home learning grid I can’t get it done. I will do this by having baskets at home for each book and each paper I own

My third goal is that I will not be off task when working and put quality into the work I do so I can learn things and get them done nicely. I will do this by thinking if I get it done I can move on to the next task faster

I really hope I can achieve my goals and turn them into action thanks for reading
