Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The MYP was developed as a framework for delivering:
- teaching and learning with an international focus;
- curriculum to students in grades 7 through 10;
- a flexibly organized programme to accommodate a variety of schools, students and teaching methods.
The goals of the MYP are:
- to develop students’ ability to become reflective and responsible citizens in a globalised world;
- to develop students’ awareness and understanding of the relationships between school subjects and the outside world;
- to develop students’ inquiry skills;
- to develop students’ ability to
- critically assess and evaluate information in order to make informed choices;
- to develop students’ confidence to become risk-takers and take the initiative to act;
- to teach students to become independent, life-long learners.
Why MYP is offered at CDNIS
- The MYP provides the framework for delivering an international curriculum.
- The MYP prepares students in grades 7 through 10 for the IB Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12.
- The MYP is aimed at inquiry, inclusiveness and global responsibility and thus supports the CDNIS Mission statement : Developing Responsible Global Citizens and Leaders through Academic Excellence.
- The MYP dovetails nicely with the OSSD Curriculum.
