English Language A Literature: Standard Level:  ENG3U & ENG4U

The IB English Language A: Literature course will help students develop an appreciation for literature and an understanding of literary analysis.  Students will engage in creative and critical thinking and refine both their writing and oral communication skills.  Students will study fiction, poetry, drama and non-fiction from a variety of periods and settings and engage in close analysis of the texts.  A major focus of the IB English Literature course is on the stylistic techniques used by authors to create literary works.  Students will respond both personally and critically to familiar and unfamiliar texts.  They will improve their ability to formulate ideas and support them with persuasive support.  Students’ views of the world will be enhanced through the study of world literature.
