SEASAC Teams- Making CDNIS Proud this Weekend

Congratulations to our 5 awesome SEASAC Teams in action over the weekend.We really couldn’t be any prouder of their SEASAC participation and success over the weekend.

SEASAC Badminton Boys and Girls teams travelled to Div 1 in Myanmar. The challenge for these very new teams was to continue the CDNIS Badminton SEASAC legacy. The TWolves teams are legends for their success and the way they play their games. I am so proud that they continued this legacy with the Girls team bringing home the SEASAC Sportsmanship trophy. This is a great recognition of the leadership of Captain and Coach. Keona leads a team of 8, 7 of whom played their first ever SEASAC Badminton this weekend. With her commitment, character and class, Keona ensured the high standards of CDNIS SEASAC Badminton were passed on to the next generation of SEASAC players.
The Boys Team also fought like crazy to earn their place in Div 1 for 2019. It came down to the last game of the last match, but the resilience and fight shown by the boys ensured that CDNIS will play at the highest level again next year; sometimes 6th really is as good as gold.

SEASAC Softball Boys and Girls teams both had their best ever result in Bangkok. The challenge was issued to these teams before SEASAC to lift the intensity and the teams responded in tremendous fashion. The girls went through the round robin stages with 4 wins and 2 losses before a sensational offensive comeback in the semi-final saw the Twolves advance to the SEASAC final. The team got off to a flying start, with aggressive swinging and skilful play, the TWolves lead by a scarcely believable 12-0 after the first innings. However momentum slowly turned and in the end, the SEASAC girls were very proud of their 3 days effort in the Bangkok heat and the Silver medal that was the result of their runners-up finish. This team were superbly lead both on and off the field by Aliya; Aliya is the strongest all-around Softball player at CDNIS. The Boys showed massive development throughout the tournament. They enjoyed a strong Day 1 (one win one loss) and then had a super Saturday going through three competitive matches undefeated to qualify as 2nd seed for the semifinals. They faced a strong and experienced GIS Team in the semis and were blown away by their hitting power. This was a tough loss and could have tested the boy’s character. In fact, many believe that “Sports do not build character, they reveal it”. I am pleased to report that the boy’s character was well and truly “revealed” in the third-place playoff. The team put in their best performance (possibly ever) in the Bronze Medal match on Sunday afternoon. Lead by superb pitching and committed defence the Boys claimed the first ever SEASAC Softball Boys medal,winning 2-1. With only one Grade 12 on the team, this team is going to enjoy great success in SEASAC softball over the next 2-3 years. These results are impressive but what is even more important is how they play their games. The Boys team (and coaches) were recognised by their peers as the team that played the game in the best way and were awarded the SEASAC Sportsmanship Trophy. Congratulations Boys; Bronze and Sportsmanship Trophy is something to be very proud of.
