U14 Basketball Gold and Silver

By | News & Updates | No Comments

CDNIS are very proud of our U14 Basketball Teams. The TWolves are the strongest U14 International School in ISSFHK Basketball with both the Div 1 teams in the Championship games last night. We also ensured we achieved our goals of Participation, Enjoyment and Success by having 2 x Div 3 Teams (Boys and Girls) enjoy great seasons.

G14 Champions. In a fantastic performance that saw every member of the squad contribute on the court, the G14 Div 1 Team won the Champions Gold in a great final v ICS. The Girls dominated the game, with great defence restricting the opposition to just 11 points. CDNIS scored 28 and this caps a first ever undefeated season for the G14 basketball team. Congratulations Holly-Mei, Vanessa, Vanessa, Annabelle, Bailey, Ricca, Nicole, Krystyn, Christine, Marin, Caroline and Sarah. And a huge thanks to their awesome Coach DJ MacPherson.

B14 finished the season with a deserved Silver medal after just going down to a massive CAIS team in the finals last night. This has been a great season for the Boys and there are a number of players on the team who will be leaders of our SEASAC team in the next few years. The Boys have developed significantly under Super Coach KD and the future of Boys Basketball is exciting at CDNIS. We are proud of Tin Yu, Kion, Donald, Canning, Ivan, Jai, Ryan, Ethan, Cam, Kellan, Ben and Max.

We have over 50 U14 Basketballers at CDNIS. This quantity and quality of programme is only possible with awesome coaches; thanks heaps to Ronald V, Tim B, Colleen W, Kadie Riverin and DJ Mac.

ISSFHK GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

By | News & Updates | No Comments

CDNIS sent a team of 12 Golfers – ranging in age from Grade 3 – Grade 11 – to the Championships held at Kai Sau Chau Course. Our best results came in the Net Competition where Charles-Alexander won the ISSFHK Net Championship for Boys with a Net 63! In The Girls Net Competition, Kiana came third with a Net 70.

Thanks to Coach Adams for leading this team this year. The Golf team has really grown in terms of numbers and quality over the last 2 years. We now have a great group of young golfers, many still in the Lower School, so the future of Golf is bright for CDNIS.

Congratulations to both the U14 Girls Team and the U14 Boys Team who have made it through to the Semi Finals of Div 1 ISSFHK. The Girls are 6-0 and on a golden run. They play ISF in the Semi Finals on Tuesday 23rd of Jan. The Boys host HKIS – also on Tuesday 23rd at 4pm – and we are hoping home court advantage can help us win the semi to qualify for the final next Tuesday. Good luck to our Girls and Coach MacPherson and the Boys and Coach Riverin.

CDNIS Host 6 Nations Basketball Championships – and Wins!

By | News & Updates | No Comments

CDNIS welcomed teams from Singapore, Myanmar, Macao, China and Hong Kong to the 6 Nations Timberwolves Tournament this weekend. 10 Teams (6 Boys and 4 Girls) played in an intense and close competition, culminating on Sunday morning in the playoffs. Our Girls U20 team overcame injuries to key players to progress and improve throughout the tournament.  They qualified second from round robin play but found themselves down by 14 points in the first half of the semi-final v Shekou international School.  An incredible comeback in the second half meant the TWolves qualified for the Championship Game on Sunday v TIS from Macao; this was a team the TWolves had lost to in the first game of the competition. A thrilling final was tied up 33-33 at full time meaning we went into Overtime!  The atmosphere in the gym was incredible and the home gym support helped the CDNIS Girls to a 37-35 win and the 6 Nations Championship trophy.

Our CDNIS Boys team had good wins over YIS from Myanmar and TIS from Macao.  We had two battles with CAIS and just went down in the Semi Final which meant we played SIS from China,  in the 3rd place Trophy game on Sunday morning. The CDNIS Boys showed their improvement made through the tournament to win the game and take the 3rd Place trophy.
The experiences and games enjoyed during the 3 Day tournament is great preparation for the SEASAC tournament next weekend in Thailand.  Our teams bring together Grade 9-12 students and it is exciting to see the combinations developing between players and the coach’s masterplans coming to fruition!
Tournaments like the 6 Nations are a result of a lot of hard work by a lot of people.  Sincere thanks to the Athletics Council, the CDNIS Media Team for providing a high quality stream and images of the event, and the Athletics Department for making the tournament possible. Big thanks also to Coaches Riverin, Wright and Young for all the time, expertise and enthusiasm they put into their teams.

The CDNIS girl’s team played 5 fantastic games and improved with each outing. The girls finished the round robin with an impressive 3-2 record against strong international opposition. This qualified the TWolves for the Asia Pacific Final. The Girls played a great game before going down to a strong Vietnamese Club team.  The U16 travelling team was a combination of our committee U16 players and our up and coming U14 team strong players.  This was a great chance to combine our exciting young talent on court together. Congratulations Katelyn, Alison, Marin, Noam, Caroline, Maia, Helen, Ottalie, Sarah, Michelle, and Sonia. A big thank you to Coach Clouthier for leading the team; the teams development and growth through the year is a reflection of her commitment and passion for Basketball.

Coach Roberts weaved his magic to bring this team together for the great results in pool play. The U16 team recorded strong victories against ASA, ISHCMC, home team UNIS, WIS, ISKL which meant our TWolves team moved through to the finals undefeated. In a thrilling final we went down to International School of Kuala Lumpur to finish Asia Pacific Tournament Runner’s Up. Congratulations to Ryan, Max, Kion, Cameron, Jai, Ethan, Adrian, Kobi, Caleb, Marcus, Evan, Elan, and Enton.
