CDNIS Ski Trip to Verbier Switzerland

By February 26, 2016News & Updates

The CDNIS Ski Trip to Verbier Switzerland was really the trip of a lifetime. A group of 38 students/staff from CDNIS made the most of every opportunity to enjoy pristine snow, amazing Swiss culture and the company of students from around the world living together in a Chalet on the slopes of the Swiss Alps. Each night inches of fresh snow meant the trails were fresh and more importantly the snow ball fights were supplied with the best material. We had first timers who became experts going from the baby slopes to the Intermediate runs in 6 days. We had great skiers – and snow boarders – who became pros and loved the challenges offered by the advanced runs and the snow park with jumps and snow cross courses. After almost 50 hours of skiing (6 days x 8 hours a day) on the slopes we were exhausted but exhilarated. But the fun didn’t stop. In the evenings we had the opportunity to try tobogganing, ice skating, movies, music quizzes, Chinese dumpling making to celebrate CNY, and shopping in the Swiss village. For these activities we were joined by other schools from Kuala Lumper, London, Dubai and Singapore who were also at Les Elfes for their School Ski week. On Day 8 we took a cultural tour to Lausaane to visit the Olympics HQ and the Olympics Museum. For sports fans and historians this was a fabulous experience. For Sports history buff’s like Mr Mac is was amazing to see the highlights and evolution of the Olympic games. For chocolate history buffs like JLo, the afternoon at the world famous Callier Chocolate factory was also a highlight, especially the unlimited tasting! After our 10 day adventure all students returned happy and healthy (one broken collar bone!) and will have memories of the Swiss snow for ever.

This is the fist CDNIS Ski trip for a number of years. We have already made a booking with Les Elfes for Verbier 2017 (Jan 27 – Feb 4) and registration for this trip will open on May 1.
The CDNIS group were fantastic ambassadors for CDNIS and were an absolute pleasure to travel with. We had students aged 8-18 on the trip and the older students took great care of the younger students, and the friendships formed between grades and between different schools were also highlight of the trip.
