Day 1 Report
CDNIS are doing us proud at SEASAC! It hot and tough conditions our Touch, Tennis and Basketball teams are relying on a healthy mix of courage and skill to make super progress on Day 1.
Our Touch Girls are in Semi final contention with 2 great victories today and 1 loss. This sets them up for a playoff game tomorrow afternoon. Lots of sprained ankles, but even more heart shown by the girls, and a few Heart Attacks to Coaches Kahu and O’Tool from the refs!
Our Tennis Boys are leading the comp with a perfect 3 from 3 today in blistering conditions at BPS. Alan (#1) and Alistair (#2) are undefeated in 3 matches and the doubles two came through in the clutch to keep our perfect record in a tight match with NIST.
Our Basketballers recovered from a shaky start to both be still in contention for a top 4 finish after 2 wins from the girls this afternoon to finish 2/4 and a great win from the boys who are 1/3. The games in the morning will be crucial, if we are to maintain our great standing in Div 1.
Most importantly our TWolves Teams are playing the games at the highest level in true SEASAC spirit and are outstanding ambassadors for our school.

Day 2 Report
SEASAC Day 2 was everything that is great about sport and everything that allows sport to reveal character.
A rain delay to Day 2 at the tennis caused havoc with the schedule of play, but our super cool tennis boys, with rackets in hand, took it all in their stride to continue their great run through pool play to qualify in the top position for the semis tomorrow morning ….. at 7am! To bring home the bacon (aka SEASAC Gold Banner) they will need to beat home school BPS in the semi and then either UWC or NIST in the final, all before catching their plane home at 4pm. Thanks to the Annual Fund who have made arrangements for an extra seat on the flight for the trophy just in case this dream becomes a reality.
Our Girls Touch Team qualified 3rd and played a semi against home team RIS that had so much drama, excitement and a little disappointment. But the overriding feeling of pride is the memory Ill take away from the game, for sure. RIS (A team we lost 1-4 to just yesterday) were relentless on attack for the first half and it was only grit and determination that got us through to half time at 0-0. Then a Danielle Klappstein special opened the scoring for CDNIS early in the second half. We let in a RIS try to tie it up but hung on to force it to extra time. This is where a player is dropped off every two minutes and the first try wins. We got down from 6 aside to 3 v 3 and just opened up in the last play. The girls disappointment showed how much they cared about this game, but their sportsmanship and class was very obvious in this tough defeat. They will quickly bounce back tomorrow and will play for Bronze,Sunday at 9am …. and I have a sneaky suspicion they will be on fire!
Our Boys Basketball team have over achieved at this tournament and their development is testament to great coaches and leading senior players. After being all tied up with a couple of minutes to go they just lost 43-48 to MKIS and this meant narrowly missing out on the playoffs. They bounced back to smash GIS in their final pool game and can be very proud of finishing 5th and securing Div 1 status for 2016. Thanks boys for continuing the CDNIS legacy at SEASAC Basketball.
Our Girls Basketball team fronted up again today after 4 massive matches on Friday. They secured the “Balo Cup” by beating Patana convincingly and were able to measure themselves against the outstanding UWC team who are in a different league to all teams here. The coaches must be proud of finishing 3rd equal on points with a 3 win 3 loss record, which is an amazing achievement in itself. Under SEASAC rules we just miss out on the 3/4 playoff, …. on count back …by one basket! This caused a few tears, but the character of the squad showed through when, knowing their fate was already sealed, they pounced on the strong Patana team and came away with with an awesome 37-32 win. Well done girls, you too have secured our SEASAC future in Div 1.

Final Summary
The CDNIS community can be proud of all their SEASAC Teams who represented the school in Tennis, Touch Rugby and Basketball Jan 29-Feb1.
For some teams it was a weekend of “almosts”, for some it was “goals achieved” and for all it gave a clear picture of what we need to do to set and strive for new goals next year.
To our Senior students who have enjoyed their final SEASAC, thank you for your contribution to our programmes.
To all of our Coaches – you are fantastic role models and you make the Timberwolves a special team to be part of.
