Meet The T-Wolves  Swim Team Coaches

                                                                                                                           

Darren McHugh – Head Swim Team Coach

Darren is the Head of the Aquatics Programme and the Head Swim Team Coach for the CDNIS Timberwolves. He has competed in national swimming championships in Ireland, and represented Ireland in Men’s Senior Water Polo for seven years. Darren also represented Ireland in numerous lifesaving competitions.

Darren’s swim certifications include Swim Teacher licences with AUSTSWIM,  Coaching Licences with Ascta (Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association), and the RLSS (Royal Life Saving Society) Pool Lifeguard. Darren is also a qualified Physical Education Teacher with an Honours degree from the University of Limerick and has taught PE in Dublin, Ireland for seven years.

 

 

 

 


Braedon Sharp – Swim Team Coach

Braedon competed internationally for Canada, and has been competitive swimming since he was 5 years old. He comes from a history of swimmers as his older brother and sisters all swam. Braedon was awarded a sports scholarship to swim throughout his university career, and still holds many provincial and club records in Canada.  Swimming is a big part of his life and has allowed him to travel the world.
Braedon holds his Canadian Level 2 Coaching Certificate and has previously coached at all levels across Canada, Taipei, Bangalore, and Singapore. He currently teaches Pre Reception in the Lower School, and can be found in the pool swimming with the T-Wolves whenever he can.

 


Tracie Liu – Swim Team Coach

Tracie swam competitively in Canada for twelve years at both club and university levels.  She was nominated team captain for the Varsity Swim Team in her final year at university.  After graduating, she represented Canada in International Lifesaving (ILS) Competitions.

Tracie coached multiple clubs in the Greater Toronto Area before moving overseas.  She elevated the swim programme at the Canadian International School of Beijing, helping the team win their first ACAMIS Championship (small team division) in 2016.  She joins CDNIS as a Biology Teacher in the Upper School.

 

 

Gary Fong – Aquatics Pool Manager

Coach Gary has achieved his bachelor degree from the University of Queensland, Australia. Gary Fong possesses extensive experience of swimming in the Hong Kong highest standard swimming competitions for 10 years. He was Hong Kong Open Championship medalist and Hong Kong Age Group Swimming Championship Record Breaker. Before he joined CDNIS, he worked in Australian International School Hong Kong swimming program. In addition, he is a qualified Swim Australia instructor.

Gary is very much enjoying his life in swimming pool, and firmly believes sports are necessary for children and teenagers’ development in positive values. He wishes everyone could share his experience, skills, and also happiness through the swim programme.

 

 

 

 

 

Bessy Shao – Swimming Teacher / Coach (ASA)

Coach Bessy has ten years of teaching experience and was a swimming coach at ESF schools before joining CDNIS. She is an Austswim qualified swimming coach and Synchronized Swimming Coach. She was also a professional biathlon athlete and has 10 years of experience in personal training for individuals from all walks of life.

 

 

 

 

 

Steve Chow – Swimming Teacher / Coach (ASA)

Steve is in his second year at CDNIS. He has being teaching swimming for 10 years. He has previously worked in CIS and Hong Kong Sports Institute. His qualifications include AUST SWIM and Hong Kong Swimming Coaches Association Level 1 and 2.
