I hope everyone had a great summer and is ready for a new year of the LS Timbertones Choir! We have a jam packed semester planned for students in Grade 3-6 who love to sing! We will hold auditions for the LS Timbertones on August 27 before, during and after school. To sign-up to sing with our group please fill out this form here. You can find a calendar for the LS Timbertones here. Finally, please note, due to the LS Musical Production in March 2020, LS Timbertones will only run semester 1 this year.
But wait! There’s more!
One special opportunity is for select students to participate in the AMIS ES Honor Choir.
For the first time in its history, the Association for Music in International Schools is hosting an Elementary School Honor Choir in Hong Kong! This advanced and rigorous choral opportunity for select students in Grade 5 & 6 to perform in a choir of international school students led by a guest conductor at CDNIS. As a choir we have the opportunity to send eight delegates to participate (we will also audition for two alternate spots, these singers will learn the music but not perform with the festival unless someone drops out). These students will be selected based on an audition that they give on September 5.
To be considered, students must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances, pay the fee for entry and participation and manage the challenging repertoire for this event.
Auditions September 5 – 2:45 – 5:00 in LLAC 816 Rehearsals (2:45-4:00) Sept. 12, 19, 26, Oct. 17, 24, 31, Nov. 7, 14 in LLAC 816 Dress Rehearsal (students are excused from school) Nov 20 and 21 at Chinese International School Evening Performance at Chinese International School – Nov 21 at 7:00pm Weekend Master Class at Hong Kong International School – Nov 23 from 8:00-12:00
Wowee! What a concert last week! I hope you are all proud of the hard work and musicianship that was showcased on Thursday afternoon.
Thanks to all of the LS Timbertones and their families for the dedication being a part of the Timbertones takes. I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
Please also take note that choir next year will be on Tuesdays after school till December only as we will have a LS Musical in the second term. Also, at the start of the school year we will be auditioning choir members for 8 spots in the first ever Elementary School Honor Choir that will be hosted by the Association for Music in International Schools next November. Lots of exciting opportunities to come! Keep your eyes peeled in August! Until then, have a wonderful summer!
As we prepare for our trip down to St. Mary’s Home for the Aged in April, we’re learning two well-known folk songs to sing with the residents who live there. These can be tricky, especially if you’re not a native Mandarin Chinese speaker! You can practice with the videos below:
Don’t forget to bring in your permission slip! Also, if you volunteered to help donate a gift or make cards, please have them ready by next Tuesday!!
Wowee! It feels like forever since we’ve seen each other! I’ve missed you!! I’m looking forward to getting back to work with you next Tuesday, October 2 in LLAC 816.

Welcome to a new school year and a new chance to do some singing with the CDNIS Timbertones! The Timbertones is a choir open to any students in Grade 3-6 who love to sing!
This year the Timbertones will be directed by Ms. Ashley Benusa. Ms. Benusa teaches Performing Arts to Grade 1-3 in the Lower School. She is a cellist and a vocalist and grew up singing in choirs all of her life. She is very excited to lead the choir in the LS this year!
This blog will be used to communicate rehearsal and performance times as well as provide materials for Timbertones members to use to practice at home. Check here regularly for important updated information!
Auditions: Auditions will start August 27rd. This is just an opportunity for Ms. Benusa to hear everyone’s individual voice. You will be required to sing Happy Birthday, and that’s it! No pressure! You can sign up for auditions here.
Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday from 2:45 – 4:00pm in Ms. Benusa’s room starting September 4. You can find a calendar of our rehearsal and performance schedule for semester I here. If your child cannot attend rehearsal, please email email@example.com as attendance will be taken each rehearsal. If a student has more than two unexcused absences from choir, they will be asked to leave the ensemble.
Performances: We will have many opportunities to share our singing with the CDNIS community throughout the year!
