Welcome to a new school year at CDNIS.
My name is Sajinda Polawski and I am the homeroom teacher for 5B. I am originally from Toronto, Canada, although Hong Kong has been a wonderful second home for the past three years. I completed my bachelors degree from the University of Toronto and my teaching education from Lakehead University. The latter is a place close to my heart as it is where I met my husband, Edward, who teaches Gr. 3 at the school. I consider myself to be an international educator, having taught for 9 years in international schools in China, Hong Kong and the Middle East. I love being a part of this wonderful school community at CDNIS, and enjoy the vibrant culture of Hong Kong.
I am passionate about teaching and being able to cultivate a love of learning in our children. Every child is unique and I seek to create a student-centred environment where they can develop into confident, courageous learners who are willing to take leaps and risks in the journey of self-discovery and knowledge.
Besides teaching, I am a huge advocate of health and nutrition which no doubt finds its way into the classroom. I am currently also studying through distance education to obtain a Holistic Nutritionist degree to pursue this passion of mine. When I am not studying or teaching, I spend my downtime practising yoga and mindfulness, cooking, reading and travelling to learn about different cultures.
Parents, I look forward to meeting you all and working closely with you throughout the year to ensure your child has a successful academic term. If at any point in the year you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via email, or by booking an appointment.
