Important Information

Communication

Your child has been given a zip pouch which will be used to carry communication letters and notes between home and school.  Please ensure that it is brought back to school each day. The pink book is one of the main means of communication for parents and teachers.  Please  check the pouch daily for any messages and pieces of art your child may bring home.  We may not get to read email after 730 am or until we have a break. If it is urgent, please call the front office. Like Prep, we will be using Seesaw for students to show what they are doing.

Arrival and Dismissal

Students will be on the playground until 745.

Students who go home by bus will be taken from the classroom to their buses by Ms Joyce. Students who do not travel to school by bus will be taken to the 9/F foyer by Ms May where they can meet their parents or their designate.  Please be on time for pick ups.

School Bag

The bag or backpack should be large enough to hold the school folder (A4 sized) and easy enough for your child to open and close independently.  Please do not send in large “suitcase” types of bags with wheels, etc. as they do not fit in our cubbies.  Please ensure that your child’s name is clearly labeled on their belongings.

Timetable

The first few weeks will be spent getting to know one another and the routines we have in the class.  Please check the timetable on our blog.

PE

PE for 1C will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children should wear their sports uniform with running shoes for the entire day.

Snack and Lunches

Screen Shot 2016-08-13 at 11.47.03 amPlease send a nutritious snack to school (suggestions: small sandwiches, crackers, fruit, vegetables, cheese, etc.) We strongly discourage cookies and treat type foods that contain high percentages of sugar.   Our aim is to foster independence, please ensure that your child is able to open and close their snack containers.  A small easy to open water bottle should also be included.  Again, please ensure that your child’s name is clearly written on their snack container/water bottle.

Our classroom is nut free.  That includes peanut butter (and jelly!).  There are some safe and delicious seed butters that are now available and a safe alternative.

Hats

Please ensure your child has a hat for outdoor play. We will keep the hats at school and send them home from time to time to be washed.

And please label EVERYTHING (socks, underwear, water bottles, snack containers, extra clothes, shoes, hat, etc.)

Toys

Please do not send in toys, unless you are asked to do so for a specific activity. Please do not allow your child to wear jewellery to school as it may get lost or broken or be a safety concern on the playground.

Money

From time-to-time your child may need to bring money in to school for a specific purpose.  Please ensure that all money is placed in a zip lock bag, clearly labeled with your child’s name, and placed inside of their communication (zippered) folder.

Weather Warnings

If a Typhoon 8 or Black Rain signal has been hoisted, there will be no classes for students.  Please refer to the school website, the Education Department or the Hong Kong observatory for any updates.

Birthdays

If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday at school, please inform us a few days in advance (via email) and we will arrange time for a small celebration. Please note that small cupcakes, muffins, cookies are the preferred choice for easy distribution.  Anything more elaborate such as parties or goody bags etc should be organised outside school hours.

We want to ensure that the year in will be wonderful for you and your child.  Please come see or email us if you have any questions.
