Teacher Profile
My name is Marshall Shaw. I was born in Toronto, Canada. My interest in working in education began when volunteering for the Y.M.C.A. as a leader of a day camp. Throughout my years at university, I began my association with education and music through a variety of situations including conducting choirs and recorder groups, playing French Horn in a symphony orchestra and delving into the world of film score writing.
As an educator for the past 25 years (19 years teaching Grades 4-6 classroom and 6 years teaching computer technology and music), my interests have centered around anything with technology, travel, and activities that allow me to express my love of creativity. As a life-long learner, I delight in daily discovery, finding/making connections, and enjoy the interactions with my students and fellow colleagues.
My goals for the future include traveling to parts of Europe and South America, developing my ability in graphic design/technology, and learning to play the Armenian Duduk (What is a duduk? See the YouTube video below).
