For those who are interested in using Google Sketchup to build 3D structures can click here to follow a tutorial lesson to learn some basic skills.  After students have learned to build the basic 3D shapes they can try one of these final challenges:

Final Challenge #1

Build a 3D structure that represent the school building using Google Sketchup.  In the drawing, students have to demonstrate using line, rectangle, oval, paint bucket, move and copy, push and pull tools to make a digital picture of the school.

Final Challenge #2

Choose a Challenge card from the slideshow:

In a video, students have to use Google Sketchup to explain clearly and demonstrate how to make one of the 3D shape in step by step instructions.  Students can use Quicktime Player to record a video of the screen with the student’s voice. Click here to learn how to make a screen cast.

Students will be assessed based on the following criteria checklist:

  • An overall understanding of the tools and use many different shapes to make the design
  • Using details and appropriate textutres to make the design look like a real life representation (Final Challenge #1)
  • Correctly identified and explained the use of key tools and terminologies regarding your structure and gave the audience a quality and meaningful explanation based on what you learned (Final Challenge #2)
  • Using class time wisely to achieve your goals without wasting time
