Looking Forward and Looking Back in RB

by liamacoritto on June 9, 2017

On behalf of Ms. Safene, Mr. Jack and myself, I’d like to thank all of the RB families for your support this year and for the great dedication you have for raising your RB learners.  It definitely comes through in the way the children bounded through the classroom door (on most days) ready for learning!  When we look back on the year, we are proud, amazed, and truly excited at the progress they have made and the things they have indeed taught each of us.  We feel confident that they are all ready to move to the next page in their learning story, and we’re honoured to have been a part of this learning journey! We’re also very touched by your cards, messages of support and gifts and look forward to sharing them with friends and family over the summer holidays.  We also wish Mr. Jack all the best in his next teaching adventure as a classroom teacher at Carmel School of Hong Kong!

During the summer holidays, take time to:

PLAY, PLAY, PLAY-spontaneous, creative, imaginative, undirected, social, fantastical, fun!  Here’s a great article about how to optimise play with your child.

READ, READ, READ-
to your child, with your child and listen to your child read to you (they may be reading the pictures, creating their own story, reading a few of the words or the whole text)-they will develop confidence and have a positive attitude towards reading!  Here are some suggested books, of course you and your child will be the best judge of the right books for you!
Find fun ways for your child to write for a reason!  Check out great ideas here to develop reading and writing skills.

Develop your child’s independence with self-help skills!  Encourage them to eat independently, dress themselves, help with household chores-this list gives you ideas of what’s age appropriate.  Continue to work on your child’s bedtime, aiming for at least 11-12 hours of sleep each night.  We’re working towards early mornings and all day at school, so even moving back bedtime by 15 or so minutes each week will help!

We will leave up the photo links over the summer for you to download any photos you would like.  When teachers are back at school on August 7th, we will be taking this down to prepare for the new year’s blog, so please download before then.

Thank you for subscribing to my blog this year, as we are closing this academic year and getting ready for the new school term, I recommend you unsubscribe from my blog so that you won’t receive updates intended for next year’s class.  Please follow these steps to unsubscribe to a teacher’s website. I highly recommend you subscribe to your child’s new teachers’ sites next school year.

Here are the links for the last two weeks of learning fun in RB:

We’ll always remember how RB friends and family made us feel!
