RB friends were back from Spring Break with interesting stories to share! We wrote these holiday stories in our journals to read with our friends. We also welcomed Professor Paws (Animal Asia) to our classroom, and we met Sunny (and Chiu B in the AM). Ask your child about how to meet a dog, and what our responsibilities are when taking care of dogs. We were very proud of our RB risk takers, some overcoming their fear and greeting our dog friends with kindness!
We talked about the children being teachers for next week’s Student Led Learning Reviews (SLLRs). Friends are very excited to show their families around their spaces and share their learning! We encourage RB families to watch the SLLR video on the blog front page to get a feel for the review. While it won’t be as structured this year, our experience is that both students and families come away with a very positive learning experience. Teachers will be on hand to help if students get “stuck” or need some prompting. We’re looking forward to welcoming our families to RB! We also enjoyed a “Career” Dress Down Day on Friday with plenty of future sports stars, artists, health care professionals and more!
Please go here with your child to read about their learning this week:
Things to Remember this Week:
1. Reception to Prep Transition Parent Presentation
Are you curious about next year? Do you want to know more about your child’s transition from a half day to a full day at school? Please join us to learn more about how CDNIS is focused on making this transition as smooth as possible for each individual child and family. Please sign up by Friday, May 5th. Hope to see you there!
Date: Thursday, May 11th
Library Pit 8-9 am
Here is a good article to consider when you are thinking about the transition to Prep (in this article it is termed “Kindergarten”).
2. Please find out more about your child’s Student Led Learning Review (SLLR) on April 27th or 28th here. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to inquire about your child as a learner with them taking the lead. Please note that your child comes only for the hour that the review is scheduled. There are no regular classes for Reception students on these two days. Please be on time for your child’s scheduled time. Regular uniform wear is required.
