You Say by Cody Farrell
You say no one cares
As you push them away
You say your life sucks
As you throw it all away
You say you don’t need help
As you live on your own
You say your done with life
And you have only just begun
You Say, the poem by Cody Farrell is one of my favorite poems I’ve came across so far. It shows how one that only care for oneself you start to throw everything that’s close to you away, and just when you think you’re alone and you’re done, its not. Life just begun.
I like this poem because I feel like I can relate to it, because there was this one period where I was acting stupid and pushed away all help, and felt all down and bad about my life. Now that I look back on it, it’s really stupid because there are lots of other people who are around me who’re supporting me. What I did then was selfish actions, selfish actions to make ME feel better. This poem sums it up, it tells others when you’re having a bad day or feeling down, don’t push away other’s help and throw away your life selfishly, because you don’t even know how much sadness you’re going to cause afterwards. You might feel better but you made a lot more people sad.
Michael Jordan- Look me in the eyes
Look me in the eyes.
It’s okay if you’re scared,
So am I.
But we’re scared for different reasons.
I’m scared of what I won’t become,
and you’re scared of what I could become.
Look at me.
I won’t let myself end where I started,
I won’t let myself finish where I began.
I know what is within me,
Even if you can’t see it yet.
Look me in the eyes.
I have something more important than courage,
I have patience.
I will become,
what I know I am.
The poem “Look me in the eye” created by Michael Jordan is my most favorite moticational poem. The poem itself gives me goosebumps whenever I read or listen to it. The poem brings out the message of don’t be scared of what you will become, be scared of what you won’t become. Know who you are inside, and don’t let anyone stop you from being who you truly are.
Life is Beautiful- Vega 4
Life is beautiful
We love until we die
When you run into my arms,
We steal a perfect moment.
Let the monsters see you smile,
Let them see you smiling.
Do I hold you too tightly?
When will the hurt kick in?
Life is beautiful, but it’s complicated.
We barely make it.
We don’t need to understand,
There are miracles, miracles.
Yeah, life is beautiful.
Our hearts, they beat and break.
When you run away from harm,
Will you run back into my arms,
Like you did when you were young?
Will you come back to me?
I will hold you tightly
When the hurting kicks in.
Life is beautiful, but it’s complicated,
we barely make it.
We don’t need to understand,
There are miracles, miracles.
Stand where you are.
We let all these moments pass us by.
It’s amazing where I’m standing,
There’s a lot that we can give.
This is ours just for a moment.
There’s a lot that we can give.

“Life is Beautiful” by Vega 4 is one of my favorite songs. I love the meaning of this song. I think that it is very positive and whenever I listen to this song when I am depressed or when I am happy. I feel like it is telling me that my life is beautiful but also can be complicated, that life would not be the way you want it to be. However, these moments is going to pass and there might be miracle which leads back to happy moments in your life we need to learn to treasure these happy moments. This song makes me stand back up when I’m depressed and don’t escape from the problems. This is why I like this song a lot and listens to it whenever I am happy or sad.
Love you like a brother, treat you like a friend.
Respect you like a lover
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
You could bet that
Never gotta sweat that [4x]
If you be the cash, I’ll be the rubber band.
You be the match, I’m gon’ be the fuse, boom!
Painter baby, You could be the muse.
I’m the reporter baby, You could be the news.
‘Cause you’re the cigarette, And I’m the smoker.
We raise a bet, ‘Cause you’re the joker, truth tho.
You are the chalk, And I can be the blackboard
You could be the talk, And I could be the walk.
Even when the sky comes falling,
Even when the sun don’t shine,
I got faith in you and I,
So put your pretty little hand in mine.
Even when we’re down to the wire baby,
Even when it’s do or die,
We could do it baby, simple and plain,
‘Cause this love is a sure thing.
You could bet that,
Never gotta sweat that [4x]
You could be the lover, I’ll be the fighter, baby.
If I’m the blunt, You could be the lighter babe fire it up!
Writer baby, You could be the quote,
If I’m the lyric baby, You could be the note, record that!
Saint, I’m a sinner,
Prize, I’m a winner,
And it’s you, What did I do to deserve that.
Paper baby, I’ll be the pen
Say that I’m the one, ‘Cause you’re a ten.
Real and not pretend!
-Chorus-
Now rock with me babe,
Let me hold you in my arms,
Talk with me babe yeah, yeah [2x]
This love, between you and I,
Is simple as pie baby
It’s such a sure thing (such a sure thing)
Ooh it such a sure thing (such a sure thing)
-Chorus-
(You can bet that
Never gotta sweat that)
Love you like a brother,
Treat you like a friend.
Respect you like a lover
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
The song above is called “Sure Thing” (written by Miguel Jontel) and it regards the love that the person is willing to give and share between his or her lover. Every line consists of 2 things that are meant for each other, for example “cash and rubber band,” “Reporter and news,” and I’ve never read or heard anything like these lyrics. I was intrigued by the lyrics the very first time I even heard this song, because everything matches perfectly. Now that we’re starting a brand new unit on poetry, I finally notice how big of a role poetry plays in our daily lives. We hear it in songs, we see it in slogans, adverts, statues etc. and j we feel it once we’ve understood the deeper meaning behind them.
Life – Charlotte Bronte
LIFE, believe, is not a dream
So dark as sages say;
Oft a little morning rain
Foretells a pleasant day.
Sometimes there are clouds of gloom,
But these are transient all;
If the shower will make the roses bloom,
O why lament its fall ?
Rapidly, merrily,
Life’s sunny hours flit by,
Gratefully, cheerily,
Enjoy them as they fly !
What though Death at times steps in
And calls our Best away ?
What though sorrow seems to win,
O’er hope, a heavy sway ?
Yet hope again elastic springs,
Unconquered, though she fell;
Still buoyant are her golden wings,
Still strong to bear us well.
Manfully, fearlessly,
The day of trial bear,
For gloriously, victoriously,
Can courage quell despair !
Poetry is the literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm. Therefore, it’s sometimes hard to understand poetry, but once you actually perceive the message that the poet tried to deliver to the readers, it strikes you stronger than any other formats of writing. When I first encountered poetry, I was completely careless about it. I didn’t care and I had no idea why people even wanted to write poems. However, once, I read a book written by my role model, and at the end of the book, I found the poem above, “Life” by Charlotte Bronte. The book itself actually disappointed me quite a bit because, honestly, I didn’t see what the author was trying to say at all, but I moved on to the epilogue section, read this poem, and finally got what the moral from the book was. The poem above talks about being optimistic, because life can’t be entirely bad because, just like the clouds of gloom, the dark aspects of life are transient. As a matter of fact, it was the first time I understood poetry, and the first time I liked a poem. I guess I can say this poem marked a turning point in my life, in a way.
