It has been a great week in 3A. We have really enjoyed getting to know all the children through “Me in a bag”! We stories and picture books we explored what it means to belong to a community and how we can all foster a greater sense of belonging for ourselves and others. We have been investigation number patterns with tools such as hundred charts and number lines. The children have all been reflecting on ways they would like to challenge themselves personally. We are all making a goal for ourselves to work on independently. As well, we have been reflecting on our classroom environment and looking at how we can take action and improve its design and function.
We made some origami cranes to help us learn about our mindset towards challenging tasks. It was very frustrating for many of us and proved to be a great way for us to see how our mindset is so important when dealing with challenge.
We were fortunate to have Christina Matula visit Grade 3 this week. She is the author of a book titled The Shadow In The Moon. The children learned about the writing process and Mid-Autumn Festival.
Building Community is essential in any community. Especially when we want to push ourselves to make mistakes and reach new heights. We play games and activities to build a more supportive environment while encouraging each other to take risks and push themselves.
