Playing with Chance and Celebrating Sport

by Donald MacPherson on May 16, 2013

Short week. Fast week. A little more than 4 weeks remaining. It is quite shocking that this year has flown by as quickly as it did. But it’s been a fun ride 🙂

Please take note of the following:

6C students are collecting for a Food drive. There is a collection box in the classroom.

Please remember that the Upper School Transition Evening will be held on May 28. Students are not to attend this evening. They will have their separate transition day on May 22.

Our next Lower School DDD will be on May 24.

Charity Supported: Shelter Box
Theme: To be confirmed
(You may create your own super-hero if you wish.)

Shelter Box provides “emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters.” For more information about Shelter Box, visit their web site.

Missed the Sports Day Assembly? You can find some pictures here.

We had some fun finalizing our probability and chance gameboards this week. The quick clip below can show you that! We started discussing patterns and algebra and will get into it more thoroughly next week.

I leave you today with another great video by Sir Ken Robinson on how to escape education’s death valley. He so encapsulates what we as a school are trying to achieve, to step away from traditional, outmoded models of pedagogy.
