I think her statements matches with her audio. My opinion for the song Amazing Grace is the song was a soft and relax song, and my definition was the same as Emma’s opinion through this song. Also, my definition for discipline is the same as her. We all think being successful at a piece of music needs lots of practice and knowledge. It requires you to be enthusiasm to practice and learn.

What interesting, different, or exciting elements did they use that you would be incorporate into yours next time round? *

I think I can use the way she thinks about playing her speed is usable for me. For example, she said that if you are not as skilful as the song you are playing, you can always decrease the speed of your song. Unlike her, I always play my songs really fast because I think I can’t control my speed. Next time, I would like to decide my beat by knowing how skilful am I in the instrument.

Did the context of the song change through their interpretation? *

 

Yes, I think the context changed because the speed of the song was not stable during the audio. At first, her speed matched the context of the song because it’s nice and slow. But at the middle and the end, the speed increases so it no longer matches with the context.

I have developed the skills required to perform this music successfully over the first music section. Explain…

For blowing the flute, I developed at trying my best to connect all the notes together. At the beginning of the unit, I have no idea how to connect them and is always out of breath. I practiced at least 10 minutes a day and practiced everyday, so at the end of the unit, I got more successful at blowing the flute. But after listening to my final recording, I still can hear breaths when I blow the flute. These sounds influenced the quality of the audio. So for these hew months, I think I need to work on trying to find a way to blow the flute easily and hiding my breaths.

I demonstrated the application of skills to create a successful piece of music. This is as good as I can get it! Explain… 

I think my piece of music is not perfect for me but I think I worked really hard on it. Therefore, I think it is quite a piece of successful music. I worked hard and practiced a lot in order to make my notes connect to each other. But if I need to be perfect, I think I still need to find out how to make a sound with the flute easily not just making a sound.

 

 

Ukulele Song – Amazing Grace

Through the process of learning Ukulele skills and working through Garageband I learned musical terms/definitions. Discuss:

 

In the Ukulele unit, I learned how to hold the ukulele properly and how to play the ukulele. Also, I learned how to do strumming on the ukulele and the definition for this new ukulele term. Strumming basically means playing through all the strings on the ukulele. I also learned how to play different notes on the ukulele and the basic rules on it such as the four strings’ names are GCEA. Besides the ukulele, I learned some new terminology for music although I had learn a lot of them before. I learned the definition of tempo, tempo basically means how fast do you play your instrument or what is the speed of it. In the unit, we also learned the basic skills for Garageband in order to put together and edit our ukulele piece. When I was using Garageband, I first recorded the melody part of Amazing Grace. After that, I listened to it and make sure there are no flaws in the recording. Then, I recorded a strumming on C in order so I can copy and paste to all the places that needs to strumming of C major. However, there are chords that’s not actually C major, so I recorded the other chords and crop them to put into the strumming part of my audio. In the end, I can have chords that was played in the same dynamics.
 

How were your decisions on your final arrangement informed by the formative unit work?

The formative unit work had helped me by getting more familiar with the ukulele. For example, we did the play along activity in class so I can get more familiar with strumming my ukulele and using the right way for your fingers when you strum. Also, I listened to how the teacher played it and found videos on online to teach me how to hold or play the ukulele. In addition, I listened to my classmates’ audio to have an idea how should our assignment sound like. My friends also listened to my audio and gave me feedback on how should I improve the sound of my ukulele. I think that using resources and time usefully can make your final audio more successful.

Music is communication, music is compromise, music requires discipline, music means collaboration. Discuss in relation to your work.

 
Firstly for communication, music can express one’s feelings, especially the composer’s thoughts. We also can communicate through music by deciding the rhythm, tempo, and how hard you play the music. In my unit work, the composer used communication through his work so when I am playing the song, I need to think of what the composer want to communicate when he wrote this song so I can play this song and so I can actually feel what the composer is feeling. For compromise, music can be really expressive so you can actually feel the story inside. For discipline, without discipline, you cannot perform successfully . Discipline requires patience and knowledge. For example, the audio I did requires lots of practice in order to get an excellent grade. Music also requires collaboration when you are doing symphonies. But also in this unit, collaboration works when you are trying to put two tracks together, it requires you to match your strumming to your melody.

For my final audio, I chose Amazing Grace. Amazing Grace is actually a soft and sad song so in order to control how my audio sounds. I think the strumming for my audio is a bit too loud. I think strumming is suppose to be the one that’s quiet because it is not the main part of the music. The strumming voice of the audio is covering the melody and my voice. The sound is supposed to be soft and slow but I kept it in a pretty quick pace. I think next when I work on my ukulele I should work on that.

I enjoyed this unit very much because I got to explore different instruments other than the one I’m playing. My most favorite part is learning and recording the ukulele because it was really fun to put music together and playing around with Garageband. (although my finger hurts a lot)
