Ploffi and Goat are living together in a pet store, and talking to each other about they never want to leave when suddenly, a tall woman with a dress and high heels comes in the pet store with a bunch of kids following her. Ploffi and Goat stop talking. The woman asks the children, what do you guys wanna have? Everybody screams HAMSTER!! Ok then a hamster it is! She asks the man behind the desk, where is the hamster section? Over there by the goat section says the man.

Everybody except the woman, runs over to Ploffi because that’s the first one they saw since ploffi never cut his hair and is just a big ball of fur. THAT ONE! THAT ONE! Yells a little girl with blonde hair. Everybody seems to agree. The woman kindly asks the man behind the desk “can you please get that hamster for us”? Fine! Grumbles the man and he walks over to Ploffi very lazily.  No! no! no! no! no! no! no! no! no! no! no! Ploffi starts to scream. Don’t put me in a bag,  put me in a luxury cage or something!

Why did Ploffi let those people take him? Thought Goat. I wonder where that woman is taking him. She was with a lot of kids so i don’t think they are all hers. Maybe she- Wait, maybe she is a teacher so those kids are student’s! Ploffi is becoming a class pet! DUN! DUN! DUN! 🙂

In the classroom:

OH YEAH! This is a life! Without Goat, just a lone is this awesome luxury cage. I can’t believe that I liked that pet store. I think i’ll check where I really am. OH NO! I am in a classroom! I need to get out of here. But wait if nobody is grabbing me and i’m left alone, then this is an awesome life! Thinks Ploffi but Goat still is thinking of a way to get Ploffi out of the classroom- RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

Outside:

THERE’S AN EARTHQUAKE!!! Yells a woman with a high voice. EARTHQUAKE!!! Yells a man with a deeper voice. WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!! Screams a little girl. In the classroom there is also a lot of screaming and yelling. We all have to escape the building! Yells the teacher. What about the hamster?! Asks the blonde girl. Just leave it! There is no time! GET OUT! Everybody runs. Leaving Ploffi in the room.

Goat approaches the classroom.

“Oh no! Not you again.”

I’m going to get you out of here!

“Why? I like it here!”

No but you won’t for long!

“Oh yes I will, i’m never leaving!”

You have to get out now! Or you won’t survive!

“I would rather die than spend the rest of my life with

you!”

Fine! Suit yourself! And Goat leaves.

When the earthquake gives one final shake Ploffi’s cage smashes to the ground and Ploffi jumps out of terror. Help! Help! Somebody save me from this classroom! Goat was right, I can’t believe I wanted to stay here! Goat ! Goat! Where are you?

“What?!”

Goat you’re here?

Yes, what do you want. You’re about to die and I want to watch you die!

Please just help me Goat! Then Goat jumps up from behind a fallen table where he was hiding from and grabs Ploffi from his fur.

Thank you Goat!

Everybody was looking for Goat and Ploffi and helping everyone stuck in the buildings but when they repaired the city, Goat and Ploffi were gone. The people searched for days but there was no sign of the 2 animals. When everybody forgot about Ploffi and Goat they were having fun in the woods at a campfire until they flew up to animal heaven.

Character Profiling Ploffi The Hamster

Last week we started character profiling. We each got a template on the computer or on paper and you have to make up a character, draw or paste a picture in the picture box and write about your character.

There are different questions about your character that you have to answer like what are his/her weaknesses? What are his/her strengths? What does this character usually say? How does your character usually act? And all kinds of questions.

My character is a hamster called ploffi. His weaknesses are that he has to be eating all the time and he can’t go to the barber shop. His strengths are eating, killing goat and growing hair. He usually says Oh no! I killed goat! Squeak! And scrunch! Scrunch! And this is what he usually does, he plays volleyball and then of course accidentally kill his friend goat, never cut his hair and EAT!

Robot Costumes

Robot Costumes

Last week we had robotics, we usually have it every week but this time was different. This time we made our costumes for the robots we are using for our dances. Me and Maegan decided a long time ago that we would make paper top hats for our robots. I had a black top hat with a yellow strip because i’m a raven and Maegan had a black top hat with a blue strip because she is a bear.

 

Later we discovered that we wanted to do something else so I told Maegan she could do a unicorn horn since she likes unicorns and I could make wings! We both agreed on that idea so now we have something totally different to dress our robots with.

 

We also saw lots of cool ideas that people used for their costume but we didn’t want to steal people’s ideas.

Make+Create+Collaborate

Make+Create+Collaborate

Last week we went to make+create+collaborate. There was sewing, singing, knitting, drumming. It was all very interesting. When I walked in the LLAC lobby I saw Maegan’s mom working on a bottle cap artwork thing. I joined with Maegan and Phoebe and then we all started to make the word joy out of bottle caps and glue.

After we had to get the glue off our hands and we went to a sewing station. We were there for a pretty long time. I made a little bag out of the red and white striped uniform. We were also walking around a bit and we watched a tiny bit of knitting and we went to the drumming circle.

After when we almost had to leave there was a small station at the back where you could play music on recycled stuff. There were so many cool things that you could play something on and it really sounded like it was the instrument that they were trying to make out of the object they were using.

Guest Speaker On Natural Disasters

Today we had a guest speaker come in to talk about natural disasters that happened in Hong Kong in the library pit. His name was Mr. Graeme Still. It was very interesting because he had been in some himself. He had talked about floods, landslides, fires and typhoons. He also showed us some videos and pictures. I thought they were all very interesting and scary at the same time.

I thought that the scariest one was the landslides because it happened in Hong Kong and we saw a video and it was even scarier. It can knock down buildings and very strong stuff.

This was very cool to know and I hope that the guest speaker will come again some time.

Lemon Dance Light Painting

Lemon Dance Light Painting

In performing arts we are in a group and we have to create a light painting and a dance at the same time. I am in a group with Hayley, Phoebe and Declan. We created a light painting with mustaches swirls lines and that stuff, and together if we actually do the dance it will make a person with a mustache. Our dance is called “The Lemon Dance.”

This is how it works. You first create a light painting in your notebook, then you create a dance that connects to the light painting, after that you create a kind of storyboard and draw and explain how to do your dance. When that’s finished you can practice and when you’re ready you can dance in front of the recording with light on your body. Then you will see your light painting on the screen!

Learning Buddies Spotlight

Learning Buddies Spotlight

Today we watched our learning buddies performance. It was amazing! My buddy also did a very good job. He was really into it and he really was cooperating with the others. One thing that he could improve on was he wasn’t really enthusiastic so I think he could improve on that.

I really liked their maharadja in the story. I noticed it in the visual arts room every time we were time we were there but I didn’t know it was for them. Their elements of performing arts and visual arts that I saw were the puppets and maharadja for visual arts and the songs and movements for performing arts.

I liked that everybody was doing very well in acting, talking, singing and moving. When the microphones didn’t work in the beginning this one guy had to speak very loud in the audience and he did very well. For some kids what they could improve on for next time is they could  be a little exciting for the audience but overall it was really good!

Disaster Discussion

Disaster Discussion

This week we started a new central idea that has to do with disasters. Mr Grant told us that he went to a meeting in bangkok and he told us that he did an activity with a guy that he didn’t know but he said that the activity was that you have to share a disaster that happened to you once and you partner after you finished your story had to retell it as if your partner were you.

 

When we started first you had to choose a partner asok me and Maegan went together. I was partner A and Maegan was partner B. Partner A had to start. I shared about when I lived in new York and I was stuck in a hurricane with my family. The hurricane was called Hurricane Sandy. We had to sleep in a basement with another family because a tree fell on their house and it had to get fixed. Maegan was really good in retelling my story.

 

After Maegan had to share, she shared about when she was in Thailand and she went on a banana boat and she fell of and nobody noticed so she stayed there for a really long time until her sister came to save her. After we also had to write it down.

Coding With Scratch

Coding With Scratch

Last week we started coding with Vivian Fung. We did it on scratch.  It was pretty fun but it was also confusing. We had to tessellate a shape and add comments on the scratch thing so you know what every step does.

I could tessellate a lot of times but it did overlap so it didn’t look really good but it was more than I expected, I was kind of puzzled at first but then I understood what it was making and why. The most challenging part of this task was to tessellate your shape because it was pretty confusing. I learned about how to use scratch and a little bit about coding.

This project also kind of reminded me about m-bot because the same people made it but we are using m-bot for our dance challenge. That is also really fun.

Should Kids Set Their Own Bedtimes

Persuasive Writing

I think kids shouldn’t set their own bedtimes because they will stay up too late.  They will be too tired to even think. I believe it isn’t a very responsible idea.

Firstly, allowing kids to set their own bedtimes is not a good idea because kids will choose to stay up late. As a result they will be tired in the morning. When they are tired they will not be able to focus clearly at school.

Secondly, it is better to let parents set their own children’s bedtimes because they are more responsible. Parents think about what will happen before they give you a bedtime.

Lastly, I think parents should set their own kids bedtime is because a lot of kids aren’t very responsible for themselves. Only very responsible kids can set their own bedtimes. The not responsible kids want to stay up late and that’s not good for them. On Friday I guess it’s okay because it’s the weekend after school.

In conclusion, my opinion is that kids should not set their own bedtimes.  I think parents should be responsible for telling their kids what time they have to go to bed.
