## Comparing Fractions

Hey Guys!

Today our teacher showed us how to Compare fractions. There are 4 strategies Equal Denominator, Benchmark of 1, Equal numerator, Missing piece and Benchmark of half.   My favourite strategy out of all 5 is the missing piece because I like how it is a little simple. We did a worksheet showing how well do we know the strategies. Here is the picture!

Here is some strategies!

Strategy Name Explanation Example Equal Denominator An Equal Denominator is when the bottom number is all the same so I look at the numerator and see which is the biggest 3/5     2/5      4/5     Smallest   Largest Benchmark of 1 There are different denominators and we look to see which fraction is more less, or equal to 1 4/6       3/2      6/6      Smallest Largest  x Equal Numerator The numerators are all the same but we look and see which denominator is largest 3/4       3/7      3/6 Largest  Smallest Missing Piece Fractions are all missing one piece.  The larger the denominator is then the larger the fraction is because you lose less. 8/9   1/2     19/20   Biggest  Smallest Benchmark of half There are different denominators and we look to see which fraction is more less, or equal to half 3/8   4/5    2/4 Less   More   Equal

## Mean Inquiry

Hi guys! I have been learning about the mean. I know that the Mean is the Average which Average means the middle of numbers and each of us are making our own chart with our own question. My question is “How many siblings do you have?” . You calculate it by adding the numbers.
