I think this week was very fun. This week, our class worked on a class project on How We Express Ourselves. I really like to do projects. For this project, we had to make something that might solve problems about what bothers us. I was very upset about North Korea so we made a play with North Korea. Me, Kavin, Kelson and Charlie was our group. I worked on making props for the play. I made the missile (that was destroyed in the play). I was also going to make a ballon but I couldn’t finish in time but I helped with making the play. I was the cameraman which took the video. It was very fun to make the play. I hope we will do these things in the future.

Reflection of the week (Mon, May Ist/Fri, May 2nd)

This week was a short week because there was Buddha’s day and Labour’s day, but we did many things.

 

The first thing that I want to show you is coding. On the last post, I think I posted a blog post of the tessellation. I really like coding, because I go to First coding to learn Java. We are using Scratch to code things. The picture on top is my tessellation. We are doing this because it is helping our mathematics and it is fun to use coding to make things. I chose to write about this because I like to do coding. I still knew a lot of Scratch coding, but I still learnt a lot because we don’t usually use so much math in First code.

 

The second thing is in Visual Arts. We learnt about Leonardo Da Vinci. We did it because we are learning about artist. We learnt about the mysteries of Mona Lisa. We also learnt he was an inventor too. I chose to write about this because I like to learn about the paintings that artists and what artist draw. I also like about the history of things, like paintings and invention.

 

Overall I had a great week by learning about these things

Design project(Feb/19,Feb/24)

This week(Feb 19th – Feb 24th), the thing that I found interesting is the Design project using Minecraft. We did the Minecraft project because we were learning about the area and perimeter.

 

We started off with a draft of our house and we had to calculate the perimeter of the house and the area of the house and the room. Next, we did a Blueprint for the draft. The blueprint has to be really neat and clear so we all had to use a ruler so we can make straight lines.

 

The last step is to make the structure on Minecraft!! I am still on the blueprint step but I am very close to finishing. Also, the structure has to be the same as the blueprint.

 

I chose to write about this because it is very fun to make our very own structure. I also liked how we had to calculate the perimeter and the area. I am also looking forward to using my Minecraft. I also like to draw the blueprint because I like to draw and be creative.

 

I learnt about the perimeter and the area of things. For the perimeter, you have to add length and the height twice. To calculate the area, you have to times the length and the height.

On the week, we did the project for visual arts. We are all making different products and we have to make a Eco Friendly Packaging for the product. My product is a Bamboo water bottle and I want to make a simple packaging for the product.

 

I chose to talk about this project because I think it was very educational for me and it teached me a lot of things. The teacher also talked about the colours that represent the meaning of ECO. We have to make the packaging for the product. We also have to make your company’s name and the logo for it. The teacher teached us about how these packaging for the product affects our world and the pollution.

Last week, we made a poster about iPod advertisements. We had two advertisements (poster) and we wrote persuasive techniques on the poster under each pictures. On the bottom, we compared which one was better and why was it bad.

 

This picture on the top is our poster. The one on the left used colour and words that pops out. One of the sentence is bold because it’s the most important thing that they want to tell to people who buy their products. It is very simple so it’s very easy for people to see. It also tells us more info(name of the product). You can tell that it is new because it says “Get your groove on. In four new colours.”

 

On the right one, it has the logo on the top so it tells what company made this product. The person on the advertisement is happy, so it tells us if you buy the product, you can be happy and excited. The background also stands out because the colour is is green. It is also big so it is easier for people to see. It also says the description of the iPod on the bottom. The iPod also stands out because the it’s white.

 

Our group thought that the left advertisement is better because it’s more neat. It is also clear to for other people to understand the product they’re trying to sell. There is more info than the right one. There is more colour so everything stands out. Our group thought the right one is too plane because they didn’t write anything. It used less colour than the left advertisement. We also agreed that the words on the bottom is too small.

Things that we learnt this week (Feb/6-10)

I think that the most important things that we learnt this week is the filming techniques. We made a video (commercial) and we also used iMovie to rearranged the video. We also used some different kinds of shots. We made this video because we are going to make a commercial by a iPad and iMovie by ourselves. I chose to write this because it was related to our Unit of Inquiry and I am also a Digital Ambassadors so I should also remember these things to help other people in my class. We learnt about how to take care of these equipment, and how to use the equipment like the iPad’s and how to use iMovie. We also learnt about the Camera angles and when the camera angle is used (what feelings does it have).

Poster for our New Unit, How We Express Ourselves

We started a new unit for How We Express Ourselves (HWEO). The central idea is “People can create message to target and influence specific audiences”. It means people can use Social Media to communicate with other people. Social Media is like Whatsapp, Line, Skype, etc. People can also use other ways like making a commercial / advertisement to communicate to the community.

 

This picture on the top is the poster. Our poster is about the SPCA, telling people to go to this garage sell to help the puppies who are at the SPCA. Our target audience means people who might be interested about the garage sell. So our target audience is people who like puppies and might want to help the puppies.

 

The techniques that we used is colour because the colour made the words were clear and easier to see. We also used pictures to convince people to come to our garage sell to save the puppies. We put pictures that our happy so we can tell people what will happen to these puppies when they were saved. We put small details like the address and what time it starts and ends and all details(it is fake).

 

I think people will want to save the puppies because the pictures can convince them to buy the goods to save the puppies.
