This week I did a Mind-Map about underwater world, I wrote about things that are in the underwater world like fish and plankton and the areas of the ocean.
I did the mind-map of a BrainPOP video. The BrainPOP video was about what is in the water like coral, plankton, fish, the different places, and animals. They talked about different animals in the different places of the ocean. The bottom part of the ocean is really dark and there are barely any living things. In the top of the ocean there is a lot of fish and is very sunny and in the middle that is where some more fish go. It was very interesting to inquire into the underwater world.
Last week we read a book about a island that had lots of animals on it, but then the family of wolves left the island and it messed up the food chain so all the animals were hungry.
After we read the book we did a little map about the food chain with our table group. We had to figure out what ate what and how the island depended on the wolves to survive and have enough food. What we came up with was the wolves eat the deer which eat grass but rabbits and mice eat the grass as well so they didn’t have enough food so then the foxes eat the rabbits but there are not enough rabbits so the fox die too and then the birds eat the mice but the mice all died so then eventually even the deer got hungry because they ate too much grass. But at the end of the story the wolves came back to the island and then they ate the deer and then there was again enough food for the island once again.
I found this book very interesting and that is why I wanted to write about the food chain and the book. I really enjoyed about inquiring into the food chain.
This week we have been doing a mind-map on a land biome BrainPop video. The video talked about how different animals need to live in different biomes or they probably won’t survive because they have already adapted to the other environment.
Some different biomes include the desert biome, grasslands, tundra, temperate forests, and rainforests. Each of the biomes have their own animals and all those have had lots of time to adapt to their home (biome). The main reason why animals can’t live different biomes is because they haven’t adapted to that biome and it might be too cold or hot or if the animal was land animal and the biome was a water biome they would probably drown or if it was the other the sea creature would die. The reason why animals have to adapt to the biome is because if the biome has lots of rainfall the animal would have to be able to survive during rainfall and not get sick or die.
This week we have been doing a mind-map about ecosystems which is what our new unit is about. The mind-map we did was on a BrainPop video that was talking about ecosystems and what they are and what makes an ecosystems.
What I wrote in the mind-map was different types of ecosystems and things that are in that type of ecosystems. I also wrote about animals that are in ecosystems. I wrote there are desert ecosystems, water ecosystems, and rainforest ecosystems. In the BrainPop video they were talking about how ecosystems are made up with living and nonliving things. Desert ecosystems have lots of sunlight and non living things. Water ecosystems include ponds, lakes, rivers, and oceans. Rainforests gets lots of rainfall and lots of tree and plants.
Last week we went to the grade 10 personal project exhibition, We got to see all of their projects and they were all really cool. They had everything, there was games, simulators, fish tanks, and even the perfect surfboard.
The first thing I went to in the exhibition was a video game that was using a Xbox 1 controller and you had to fight some monsters in the cave you were in. Then at level 4 (last level) you had to fight a boss. The next thing I went to was a bike that when you went and rode on it, it would create electricity and it would charge the creator’s computer. After I went there I went and looked for some other things I saw some cupcakes, other games, and other really cool things. But Then I saw my friend and he was in line for a game that you would be a homeless person and you had to beg for money, and if you didn’t have enough food you would get game over. The person who created it I think was making a fun way of learning about how hard it is to have no money.
This week we have been creating a commercial for something we are making in art. My group is called Electro Toys and we are making a product called Talk-To-Me.
The product Will read all your messages, so if you are busy you can do your work while listening to the talk to me. You can also play with the product if you get bored, but we don’t actually get to build the product. Since we needed the product in our commercial, Luca brought in 3 small toys that we would use as our product. The people who were creating the commercial including me are Jacob (Actor), Jeffrey (cameraman) , Luca (main actor), and I (director).
We did this learning because our unit is about advertising and so we have to do our own little ad to see what it is like. I chose to reflect on this because I’m really enjoying creating this commercial because I want to be a director when I grow up so I really am enjoying doing this learning.
This week we started to do a design project. We had to make a house by shading in the boxes in our math notebook and then we had to put in the perimeter and area.
After we did that we would copy of our notebook on a big piece of paper, even though I haven’t done that yet I’m almost there. When we’ve done that we have to do on Minecraft and if we want we could add some more storeys and more decoration to your structure. I’m really looking forward to using Minecraft at school.
On February 10th we did a film with iMovie. We had to get in groups of 4, and then we had to choose our roles you could be the, cameraman, one of the 2 actors, or the Assistant.
I was the cameraman. My friend Jeffrey was the assistant and Max and Harry were the actors. Max had really cool ideas and so we used them. One of his ideas were to right everything what they said on the board.
Our class did it because they wanted to help our filming techniques and how ads are made. I choose this to be the most important learning of this week because it was really fun to do while we are still learning new things. The things we learned are we learned even small clips take a lot of filming and editing. I found this experience very fun to do.
The class had to get into groups and make a poster. My friends and I made a vote for me as student council poster. We had to decide who the audience was going to vote for, so one of my friends wanted to so we chose him. We got a picture of my friend and we glued it onto our poster. We also printed out a penguin (not real) with a sign saying “Vote 4 me” and we thought it was funny so we also glued it on. Our slogan was “We put the cool in school”. Our target audience was people who could vote in cdnis. The techniques we used were saying that we will do this and that and lots of different things. I think the audience will respond by wanting some things that we said we will do and not wanting others. We didn’t do that many drawings but we still did a few. I think we did a good poster and I found it fun to do.
