Learning Reflection Body Science

On may 18th we did a body science class. Our librarian was the person who was teaching us about the body science. We were told about puberty and that we were only going to use scientific words for everything. We were only allowed to laugh for 3s. In the class if we had any question but we didn’t have time for the question or you didn’t really want to say it out loud. It was a lot better than I thought it would be, in fact it was very  funny. In the class we learned about puberty and the way learned was she would put cards on the board and one would say female another said everybody and the last one said male. Everyone got a card and it said something that happens during puberty. We would have  to tell the teacher where it went under female, everybody or male. I got feet grow, it went under everybody. The majority of the cards went to everybody and female.

Learning Buddies Spotlight Reflection

On Tuesday May 9th, we got to see grade 1’s spotlight. I got to see my buddy on stage and lots of other buddies.

 

In the beginning of the spotlight, my buddy was in this puppet walk where they walked to the stage while holding paper puppets while doing different a. The spotlight was about a girl called Amrita who one day sat by a tree, and then these woodcutters came to the forest that the tree was in. They tried to cut down the tree but the Amrita hugged the tree and told them to go away. The woodcutters said that they will tell their boss Maharaja. The next day Maharaja came and said I am sorry and I will tell the woodcutters to stop cutting down the trees. In the end the whole village celebrated. In the spotlight the buddies did a lot of singing and dancing while being very active. I really liked how even though there was some difficulties they just kept on going.

 

I really enjoyed watching my buddy this spotlight and I think they did a good job on this spotlight.

Toxic Chemicals in Products (Persuasive Writing)

There are chemicals in some products and can very toxic to humans, they can cause a lot of bad to humans.

 

Some of the products that have toxins in them are air fresheners, make up, pillows, plastics bottles, deodorant, furniture, food wrap, cookware, electronics, and shampoo.

There are a lot more products with toxins. Some effects of the toxins are harming of brain development. It can make you have a lower iQ level, it also can affect memory attention, cognitive skills. Plastic bottles are very toxic and can cause cancer because of the materiel it is made out of. The gases that come from the factories that produces the bottles are very toxic as well. There are a lot of toxic products in the world and they can really harm you or others. Some chemicals in the products are Perchloroethylene, Triclosan, Quarternary Ammonium Compounds, 2-Butoxyethanol, Ammonia, Chlorine, and Sodium Hydroxide.

 

These products are very bad for you and can to bad to human beings.

Today we did some coding for Scratch, we were supposed to make a tessellation. My tessellation was of a hexagon made of triangles. The tessellation would go on forever until pressed the stop button. Compared to the other tessellations mine was really simple. The way it kind of worked was it would draw a triangle and then it would move into a new area and rotate itself and it would keep doing this so then it could eventually make the hexagon.  I really enjoyed doing this activity and it was really fun, it was one of the first times I actually used scratch.

I believe that sushi is the best food in the world. Sushi is healthy while still being delicious and it’s not a heavy food so you won’t feel stuffed.

 

First of all sushi is the best food in the world because sushi has seaweed, rice, and fish, and if you’re a vegetarian or vegan you can have vegetables instead of the fish and you can basically put anything inside. Sushi has no sugar or chemicals at all just the seaweed, fish or vegetable, and rice.

 

Another reason why sushi is the best food in the world is you can buy sushi in a lot supermarkets in Hong Kong and if you want top quality

Sushi you can go to one of the many Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong.

 

The last reason why sushi is the best food in the world is because it has different toppings like soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger so it will have more taste to it instead having the same taste every time. The sushi will taste much nicer with the toppings, and if you don’t like one of the toppings you can have a different topping or no topping at all.

 

So that is why I believe sushi is the best food in the world.

Wayside School is Falling down

Recently we have finished a book called wayside school is falling down. The book was about a school and they were very weird and unthinkable, you never would know what they would do. My favourite character in the book was a girl called BeBe gun because she lied to the teacher (Mrs. Jewls) about having a little brother that was making her do bad on her homework and then she kept gettings tootsie roll pops. One of my favourite stories in the book was there was a new dance teacher called ms. Valoosh and she made them do and then she made them do a really crazy dance. I chose to write about this book because it was very funny and unpredictable.

This week I did a Mind-Map about underwater world, I wrote about things that are in the underwater world like fish and plankton and the areas of the ocean.

I did the mind-map of a BrainPOP video. The BrainPOP video was about what is in the water like coral, plankton, fish, the different places, and animals.  They talked about different animals in the different places of the ocean. The bottom part of the ocean is really dark and there are barely any  living things. In the top of the ocean there is a lot of fish and is very sunny and in the middle that is where some more fish go. It was very interesting to inquire into the underwater world.

Last week we read a book about a island that had lots of animals on it, but then the family of wolves left the island and it messed up the food chain so all the animals were hungry.

After we read the book we did a little map about the food chain with our table group. We had to figure out what ate what and how the island depended on the wolves to survive and have enough food. What we came up with was the wolves eat the deer which eat grass but rabbits and mice eat the grass as well so they didn’t have enough food so then the foxes eat the rabbits but there are not enough rabbits so the fox die too and then the birds eat the mice but the mice all died so then eventually even the deer got hungry because they ate too much grass. But at the end of the story the wolves came back to the island and then they ate the deer and then there was again enough food for the island once again.

I found this book very interesting and that is why I wanted to write about the food chain and the book. I really enjoyed about inquiring into the food chain.

This week we have been doing a mind-map on a land biome BrainPop video. The video talked about how different animals need to live in different biomes or they probably won’t survive because they have already adapted to the other environment.

 

Some different biomes include the desert biome, grasslands, tundra, temperate forests, and rainforests. Each of the biomes have their own animals and all those have had lots of time to adapt to their home (biome). The main reason why animals can’t live different biomes is because they haven’t adapted to that biome and it might be too cold or hot or if the animal was land animal and the biome was a water biome they would probably drown or if it was the other the sea creature would die. The reason why animals have to adapt to the biome is because if the biome has lots of rainfall the animal would have to be able to survive during rainfall and not get sick or die.

This week we have been doing a mind-map about ecosystems which is what our new unit is about. The mind-map we did was on a BrainPop video that was talking about ecosystems and what they are and what makes an ecosystems.

 

What I wrote in the mind-map was different types of ecosystems and things that are in that type of ecosystems. I also wrote about animals that are in ecosystems. I wrote there are desert ecosystems, water ecosystems, and rainforest ecosystems. In the BrainPop video they were talking about how ecosystems are made up with living and nonliving things. Desert ecosystems have lots of sunlight and non living things. Water ecosystems include ponds, lakes, rivers, and oceans. Rainforests gets lots of rainfall and lots of tree and plants.
