Well done, Carolyn. You are a great story-teller in person, and now I see that you are one on paper, too. It’s not often that an author can also be an illustrator – congratulations on doing both so well!
Hi Carolyn,
We are delighted to read your story. Knowing you it will be engaging and we will post a further comment then. In the meantime
stay as delightful as you are!
Its a good opening, you put alot of thought into your story, using a good choice and knowledge of history showing your research, your illustrations were very colourful, your comprehension was excellent and descriptions precise, my favourite part in the middle was the girls feet sunk into the sand with Minnows swimming round in the Sapphire sea, i wish it was me! i thought you were generous to your characters ie setting the slave free, good ending Carolyn. well done x
Very well thought out , showing lots of research. Loved your description of feet in the sand made me envious. Made very interesting reading, you obviously have a career as an author, in future years.
It is so nice to be related to an up and coming author, well done, compelling reading.

A beautifully told story.
I especially liked the elements of “girl power” and learning to listen for guidance from unexpected places (the slave).
The illustrations really helped me to bring the story to life inside my imagination.
Nicely done Carolyn!!
That is a great story I realy liked it.
Great story, well written and with illustrations to go with it!
Maybe a budding author in the family? Well done Carolyn.

Carolyn, this is the best story I have read. If I had one very tiny (constructive) criticism it would that there could be something about cats. I look forward to that in your next work. MdB.
Carolyn this is an excellent story. I really enjoyed it from cover to cover. The illustrations are great too. Well done!!!
Great story Carolyn! I really enjoyed it. Write more!
Wonderful story Carolin. It takes you back to the days of the Roman Empire . Lots of imagery and excitement. A very enjoyable read.
Uncle John
Enjoyable story Extreme 18. It’s a nice change to read a story about a Spartan instead of the usual stories about Athenians. I hope you keep up the writing.
Dad
A well written and exciting tale. I wanted to know what was going to happen-a real page turner! In my opinion this could mark the beginning of an illustrious career as a writer. Well done Carolyn

Carolyn, this was an exciting story. It took me back to the Greek Classics of my university days. I liked the messages you conveyed through your writing. Perhaps this will become a Greek Drama. I look forward to more.
Grandpa
It’s been a long time since I was transported to ancient Greece. Oh, to have the ability to change the fate of an entire land through the power of persuasion. Keep writing, Carolyn. There are not enough storytellers in this world.
Carolyn, what an exciting story ! I like all the positive messages conveyed throughout the story : self-acceptance, courage, confidence, advocating peace, resolving conflicts throught talk. Well done !
What a wonderful story, Caroyln! I love the way you tell it, too! I totally agree with you that we should resolve conflicts through talks and ampathy instead of war! And thanks to you, I think I have found myself a new heroine. Her name is Cosmina!
Carolyn, what a great story. I very much enjoyed reading and look forward to more.
An intriguing tale. I like the illustration where the slave is peeking around the corner of the building.
This was a very exciting story and makes me want to read more about the Spartans and the ancient Olympic games. Well done!
Hi Carolyn, by posting this story you made my lunch break today so much more fun, what an exciting story to read! I am very impressed and I am looking forward to read more stories from you in the future.
Carolyn, I can see very clearly how all of that reading you do is making you yourself a talented emerging writer! I thought the story was most interesting, with a dash of the reality of everyday human feelings. Great!
I was on the edge of my seat! Good to see a happy ending.
This was a good read to break the boring momentum for the day. I was temporarily transported to ancient Greece and got a bit worried as to whether indeed war would break out. I liked how you found names for the characters. Did you think of them yourself?
What a great read! I love your use of adjectives and imagery which bring the story and characters to life in such a vivid manner. A very unusual title which makes the reader want to know more and a nice touch mentioning the Olympics in 2012!
PS: you will also have to write in a cat character for “you know who”.
Hey Carolyn, what a fantastic story! Definite screenplay potential. Perhaps you, Eric, mum and dad can act it out and post it on You Tube??!!
Lots of love, Auntie Nadia xo
PS: you will also have to write in a cat character for “you know who”.
Its a good story, Caroline. The title is intreguing, it made me curious and drew me into the story. I love the illustrations. Is there to be a sequel?
What a gripping story, Carolyn. And quite uplifting. A fearless heroine saves the day.
I liked the humorous asides in modern style.
Will we see more of these adventures?
Carolyn, I very much enjoyed reading your exciting story and was relieved that all was resolved in the end. Your accompanying illustrations were most effective. I hope you will continue writing your
stories.
Well done. I couldn’t put it down.
Carolyn, well done! You have done a wonderful job on your story. I was going to read the first page and then come back to read the rest after I had taken Tiggy for a walk. Tiggy is still waiting because I had to finish it! Auntie Iona xx
What an excellent story! I look forward to reading more from this promising author.
This story was veary exiting! I really enjoyed reading it. I hope you win.
Best regards, Your cousin Benjamin
