Trip Reflection Vincent

What a trip! . During the trip we did a bunch of activities we kayaked,  hiked, shot archery, climbed, cooked Thai food and plenty of other activies.

If I had to describe my self during the trip with two learneer profiles then I would have ben reflective and a risk-taker. I think that I was reflective because everyday before lgihts out I wrote a reflection on the activitirs of the day. I think that I was a risk-taker because I was the firest person in my group who tried to start communicating with the kids that we played with.

One challenge I had during the trip was trying to communicate and play with the kids. I solved this by slowly starting out with basic games that the kids know like duck duck goose and them moved on to more complicated games like checkers, checker was realy fun playing because they played on a reguler checker oard but instead of using chips we used stones. The kids actually had realy good memory because even at the end of the game when all of our stonese were in different parts of the board they could still remember who’s’ rocks where who’s’.

I think this trip helped me grow in a way because that was a whole week with looking at any digital screens  It was actually really fun not using computers, but it was weird because I usually spend half the day looking at screens and that was a whole week with out looking at any screens. I think I grew because now since I am back in Hong Knong I don’t think i will be using my computer as much any more.

Fractions & Decimals Unit Reflection

Where would you fall on the stress and learning graph?  Why?

Around 3 because for most of the unit I would have en at around 2 because I was concerned and I did feel less stress then all of the other units but a week or so before the test I got  really stressed because I realized that I had forgotten a lot of things about the relationship between fractions and decimals. So having the two and the four would average my stress level to around four.

What was challenging about this unit? What was easy?

The most chalenging part for m was to learn how to properly divide decimals by making the divivdent a whole number.

The most easy part I think was the fractions because we had learned them before.

How was your effort in class and at home reflected in assessment results?

I think that in the first half of the unit I did not take it seriously as I should have because later in the unit I realized that I did not know most of what I shoukld have known.

What activities did you like in this unit?

My favorite activity was learning about pi because we briefly learned a little about pi in grade five which left me with a lot of questions that I answered in this unit.

Habits

I have learned that habit are very common and that people don’t just have all bad or good habits. Now I get how people can have good habits like studying a lot but then a bad habit of not doing enough sports. After thinking a lot about my habits are I have found that some habits that are good create bad habits. For example someone who excersizing a lot may not necessarily have a lot of time to study. In conclusion habits are really important to think about.

Patterns in Algebra (Unit Reflection+

The best thing about this unit is that I have never actually learned this much about Math in a unit. For example making patterns in graphs, input output tables and how to write equations with inputs and outputs. Learning about inputs and outputs can really help us in life because in every single assessment we had where real life questions that we will need to answer in our life. I still want to learn more about solving inputs and outputs that have exponents because I could not answer a few of those type of questions on the final assessment.

Here is an example of a task from the unit

My Science Project

I like how my bird looks like it is on a branch because I stuck a brown piece of cardboard from behind and my bird is resting on it. I also like how the fake lake looks pretty realistic compared to just using blue paper. The two maine problems were that my model can not be moved because the bird is only standing on two sate sticks and if it moved it would just fall. Also my background should not just be a few trees because it is a forest so it should have a lot of green behind the trees.

For this project I started off working a lot during recess and at home. After the first couple of days I stopped working on it as much because I thought I was ahead which I was, but because I am really slow at art at had to rush in the last class to paint.

Methanobrevibacter Smithii

Methanobrevibacter Smithii

They swim using there flagella. This helps them be able to swim inside the body or animal that they are living in.

There metabolism is made with special chemicals so they can digest things. There bodies are made like this so they can digest things like sulfur and ammonia so they can digest things that are inside living creatures.

There wall on the outer layer of there body is made to protect them. it is made out of protein muscles.

They reproduce asexually by fission. which is wear one Methanobrevibacter smithii splits in help and creates two

Paper Towel Lab

Title

An experiment into which paper towel absorb the most water

Problem

Our purpose is to find out which of the 2 brands of paper towels absorb the most water.

Hypothesis:

If we squirt died water on Bounty Basic paper towels and CDNIS paper towels that are set on top of a sheet of paper then more will go through the CDNIS paper towel because the Bounty Basic has lots of crevices and the material that Bounty Basic is made out of is thicker.

Independent Variable

Brand of paper towel.

Dependent Variable

How much water goes through the paper towel?

Control Variable

How much water

How long it takes to squirt the water

How we measure it

How many sheets of paper

The time of letting the paper towels absorb

Using the same string

Not stretching the string when measuring

Squirting the water from the same height

The type of paper Used

Materials

Paper  6 sheets

Died water 5.25ml

Pipette 1

String 1 about 20 cm

Timer 1

Paper towel 6

Bucket 1

Ruler 1

Method:

First you have to set either a CDNIS paper towel or a Bounty Basic paper towel on top of a sheet of paper in a bucket. Secondly you need suck 0.75 ml of died water into a pipette. 3rd squirt the water that was in the pipette on to the paper towel from 3 cm above. 4th 5 seconds from the time that the pipette hit the paper take the paper towel off the sheet of paper. 5th measure the circumference of the stain on the piece of paper with string. 6th convert the circumference into area. 7th Repeat three times per brand of paper towel

ChartData Collection Table: For the amount of water that leaked through the different brands of paper towels

Test # Bounty Basic (cm) CDNIS paper towels (cm)
1 14.28 35.09
2 14.28 38.51
3 14.5 28.72

Evaluation:

I followed the method the whole time except except  a couple of times there were errors like I didn’t squirt the water from the same height or angle which effected the data so I counted the test inconclusive and redid it. This investigation has proven that our Hypothesis was correct because we thought that the Bounty Basic would absorb more water then the CDNIS paper towels because Bounty Basic paper towels are thicker and our experiment showed our hypothesis was correct because in the graph you can see how more then double the amount of water is going through the CDNIS paper towels then is going through Bounty Basic. In this investigation I think we had a couple errors that could have ben fixed by us and some that we would need special tools to fix. The errors that we could have fixed were making sure that we squirted the from the same hight. We could have also used a lot less paper by cutting the paper in half instead of using a hole sheet every time. The errors that we need better tools to fix are using a tool that could help measure the amount of water that got through the paper towels instead of using string. Also even with the pipette it was hard to keep our fingers steady enough to hold the pipette at the right amount so it would have ben more accurate if we had better tools for that also.

Conclusion:

In conclusion my chart has shown that on average Bounty Basic absorbs double the amount of water that the CDNIS paper towels absorb. I think that this has happened because Bounty Basic is a lot thicker then CDNIS paper towels and has lots of crevices that water can get stuck in.

Soccer PE Unit reflection

During this unit the main thing that I learned is space= time. Because if you are further away from the defender then it will take him a longer amount of time to get to you. Fore example if you were playing a monkey in the middle game everyone would go far away as tey can because that way the person in the middle wont be able to get the ball. Also I learned a very good strategy/ game plan which was diamond one man attacking to in the middle and one in defense.

I liked how every thing that we learned Mr. Short showed us how to use it in a game strategy rather then just telling us because that way it was easier to learn and easier to remember.

Monologue Summative Script

My whole life has been so hard. My parents don’t even want me to come home. It’s been such a mess. Growing up on the street. Being arrested when I was 8, stealing just to survive. You have no idea what it’s like.

But some some how, pause some how I found a way to slowly push through all of that trash. And now after this happened, is there even a reason to live and keep going when I know that even more baloney will keep happening to me?

Johnny pause the only person who ever gave a dime about me is gone. that little innocent puppy;eyed kid. little Johnny cake. The only person who I could talk too. I was is role middle thats probably why he is dead only if he looked up to some one like Darry maybe then he wouldn’t have died. And now the group is going to fall apart, Johnny was the one who kept the group united. But now he’s gone pause all gone forever. And now  cause he’s gone theres not one dang person  on this planet who gives a dime what happens to me.

Maybe I should just stop and give up on my life. Because so far the only good things in my life have disappeared. So I should just end this, right now. end this baloney of a life. The only question is how Pause how can I take my own life but still be a tough greaser and not make the socs think that I am weak and they pressured me into this? because they are better then me and that I would rather die then to keep fighting with the socs. Because thats not why I’m ending my life. or is it? Is it because they have done everything possible to make me and all greasers life’s terrible? No I’m doing this because of my parents, my past, and because johnny is dead. Not because of the socs.

English Summative On Outsiders

There are a couple reasons why Pony Boy told himself he was the one who killed Bob. I think that Pony Boy insisted that he was the one who killed Bob because then he wouldn’t have to keep thinking about how Johnny had saved Pony’s life by killing Bob, and reminding himself that Johnny was dead also one of the main reasons why Johnny was at the church was because he was on the run from the police for saving Pony Boys life. Also Pony Boy probably feels better knowing that his friend who just died was not a murderer. In conclusion Pony Boy is insisting that he killed Johnny because that way he will not have to think about Johnny or remember that his friend killed another human being instead of the really good friend that he had ben.
