Playing Test and Theory Test Reflection

by Evan on June 4, 2014

On my theory test I got a 5 out of 8 I think that I deserved this mark because I was able to remember different notes and key signatures but I didn’t remember what was in the live recording of the canadian folk songs so that took away from my mark a lot, and I didn’t do the timbre question right.

On my playing test I think I didn’t practice enough to get a really good level because I messed up quite a few times and wasn’t able to keep a constant flow of music. My average practice times were 4 times a week for about 15-20 minutes. If i’d practiced more I think I would have been able to improve my mark a lot. My practice diary clearly showed this. If I were to do music next year my goal would be to improve on the flow of my instrument and to practice more on hitting higher notes.

Crit D reflection

by Evan on June 3, 2014

I think that overall I put in a lot of work throughout class and in the homework I did by submitting all of the homework I had to do in and trying to play my best with my class. I think that to improve I should have practiced more at home. If I want to do this I have to learn how to manage my time. For example, I could use a calendar to organise my work better and plan out when I would have to do things. I also think that I should have gone in for more review sessions with my teacher to make sure what I’m practicing is right and to get extra help. Overall, I’d say that I got a 5/8 for my final grade and think that if I practice more I will be able to improve my playing skill a lot.

Composition comment Reflection

March 17, 2014

After looking at the comments I saw that people liked my use of repetition in my composition. The repetition of the rhythm in my song made different sections of the song familiar and allowed the song to be pleasing to the ear. Another one of the comments told me that I should have included more […]
