best blog ever

Today we had sport day and it was okay. I am happy that I finished before my friend in the 100 meter run but only got 2nd. The only other thing that was fun was capture the flag. I was the flag taker. I wish they had handball in sports day because that would make more fun. My least favorite event was relay in the bags.

In the festival of the arts we watched the talent show. They did a lot of stuff that I can’t do. There was singing, piano, drama and some instruments I don’t know what they are. The whole 5th and 6th was watching them and the room was filled excitement. After that we had to do to the red shoe dance class. It was different from P.E. but still fun. We had to remember the dance steps. It was hip hop dance. Then we had to perform. Next we had rainbow calligraphy I drew 2 birds and my Chinese name. It was much harder then water color painting. You had to paint very gently.

Next we had to look for the piece of art that we liked the best. I was Surprised that a sketch of a money sign is worth 720,000 dollars. I didn’t like some of the paintings that were to big and boring.

We just finished the book called Music On the Bamboo radio.
The book was about a boy who got away before it was too late. He was forced to go into hiding from the imperial Japanese army. He would have to were a disguise
I think that the book is a okay because my uncle who was in H.K. when the attack says that the Japanese treat the Chinese bad too and I have read better books. I think that is good book for historical fiction because I don’t read lots of historical fiction so it is interesting but it needs more fact.

When our school went to the cemetery to find out the history of Hong Kong. Then we had to write what we learned from this trip. There was an outbreak of cholera in 1883. Cholera come from water that has been exposed to poop. That means that they dumped there sewage into there water supple. I also found out that there was a high population of christens. I could tell because of all the crosses. There was a lot of soldiers that died in China and not in Hong Kong. There were a lot of navy people buried in the cemetery but there was not a lot R.A.F.. In 1939 -1945. That is because of the world war 2. Most of the did not die in action but of sickness because they were in low condition. Most of the graves were in english not in Chinese. The earliest grave is 1811 and the newest in 2009. This what I learned from the Hong Kong Cemetery.

For my summative task was to do an child rights P.S.A.m My P.S.A was about orphans and how most don’t get homes. Also how very little orphans get good food and how there is so many orphans in the world. There is mush much more.

Today we watched a video about Hong Kong in 1938. Hong looked like a whole different city back then. The most shocking fact I learned is that there is 20,000 Europeans and there was a million Chinese. The reason that fact was shocking is because there is so much more Chinese then Europeans. I thought that the rickshaw weren’t that good back then because they have to be carried by people. The buildings were much shorter then. I found out that Hong Kong was on of the free ports in the world. Repulse bay was one of the most famous bath beaches. Beach houses covered Repulse bay. There were also tons of sanmpans in the water. I did not see lots of big boats. I found it quite strange that some people made house just like a Castile but not the size of one. Happy Vally is where most of the rich people live. There still was a large race course. I learned that the water was closer in land in 1938. I believe that the living in Hong Kong in 1938 would be very different from modern Hong Kong.

In school we were reading a book called Igbal. I think Igbal is very suborn and brave. I felt good for him at the end of the book because they were free and arrested the master. He  trust everyone and keeps promise. He will do any thing for freedom and would not leave other people even if he can be free. At the stared of the  book I felt bad fro the kids. I think the tomb is very hot and  scary. It would be very cruel to be down in the tomb. I am very impressed that the kids had the guts to go in the tomb. I think when they all unite they all the strongest and I think that is true. I think this book gives lots of good examples. That is how I feel about this book.

Today two authors’  visit are school about poems and now I understand a lot more about poems then i did before they came to are school. There names were Sara Holbrook and Michael Salinger. They taught us poems like verb poems and definition poems. I did not even know that they could be poems about like that. I learned that you do not need any thing to write  a poem. Most things don’t last long but poems last forever.  They live in Ohio near the great lakes. They just wrote a book called Zombie evacuate the school. I learned how books are published. The publisher tells the author what he thinks he can do to improve his poems. The author will agree or disagree. Overall I learned a lot of shocking things about poems.

13.1.11. we went to a landfill and my first impression of a landfill is very smelly.Also just piles of garbage stack on each other. When I went to landfill it  everything was controlled.They were huge plastics covers that cover the garbage. In the tipping area they were garbage trucks dumping garbage.  then there was a bulldozer which push it into a spot. Then the compactor would crush the garbage so it goes down. Then they could fit more garbage.  They turn the polluted water into drinkable water. With bacteria eating away the pollution in it. They turn most of the methane into electricity and the rest they burn in the flare. The flare is as hot as 800 degrees. After the landfills is full they plant trees and grass over it and make into a forest. The impresson I have now is there is nothing wrong with a landfills. The landfill doesn’t even smell at all. I don’t think there is any thing wrong with landfills.
