Hello everyone, for the past few weeks 6C has been having book clubs, all of us have been reading books related to our unit, “How the world works”. Today, I’m going to talk about a very special character in the book I’m reading, an elephant.
Title: Running Wild
Author: Michael Morpurgo
Character Reviewing: Oona
As nine year old Will drifted across the sandy beach, the elephant he was riding, named Oona, was unsure about the ocean and was acting rather odd. With Oona’s sixth sense, she ran into the jungle bringing Will along with her, a tsunami had struck. Days, Months had past, Will and Oona had learned to survive in the jungle by living on fruits, clean water and shelter. But of course, animals don’t have the ability to communicate verbally with humans. But Oona is different, she also is not able to speak, but she can understand the needs of Will. When Will was hungry, he would tap Oona and use actions to describe his needs, Oona could understand and brought him to the appropriate food and appropriate water, she would also provide safety for Will which also makes her a caring elephant.
