Year in Review-Grade 5
Grade 5 Review
Grade 5 was really fun! ;p I really, absolutely enjoyed everything. From getting our lockers to Grade 5 camp, just everything was so new and different. Even though we are getting old and there’s more homework and stress, looking at my class gave me hope. All I needed was to have a great school year and I did! I learned so much and I feel like I’m really, really smart. (But really, I’m not :p) I am really proud of my self (that I survived grade 5). Here are some things during the whole year.
Learning
During the year, we needed to make 2 learning goals. The first one was to develop my time management skills. The other one was to become a better presenter of ideas.
I think developing my time management skills half worked and half didn’t. It worked because I usually finished just in time or I finished early so I had extra time. But sometimes I have time-crunches and I have to go over the due date. I really, really hate that because I get so much stress and pressure. And getting stress and pressure are my most dislikes.
I think becoming a better presenter worked well because I have become more confident and fearless. But still sometimes I get nervous if I haven’t prepared for a presentation or if I am not good at the subject I am presenting (Such as French).
My favorite piece(s) of work
I don’t actually have a favorite piece of work because I enjoy almost everyone of them. But I really liked making the Digital Story. It was because I’ve not used iMovie a lot before but making the Digital Story included a lot of iMovie work.

Also I really enjoyed doing a exploration on Thursday. Me and my buddy, chose to do a iMovie project. It was really fun because I could learn more about that subject and I could explore iMovie more.

There was also a math project that we did with decimals and percentages. We get a thousand dollars (not real!) and we had to go on the internet and shop! We actually had to calculate the cost and use the sales too. At the end we had to make a poster. The poster needed to include the price of the items I bought (with the sales) and the total amount I used. We also had to pay a tax. The whole procedure was really fun, especially because I got to go (fake) shopping!
Here is the poster I made for this project.
Field Trips!
During grade 5 we went on 6 field trips. I enjoyed EVERYONE of them! They were just awesome!
Here is a list of field trips by order
1. ART JAM (Causeway Bay, Windsor House)
2. Eco Park
3. North East New Territories Landfill (NENT)
4. Hong Kong Happy Valley Cemetery
5. DIG Day (in South Bay beach)
6. Hong Kong Museum of History
ART JAM
We went to Causeway Bay, Windsor House to do some artjamming. There, we had to draw a portrait of our self. But we also had to have 2 different side. One using warm colours and the other using cool colours. It was fun but I wasn’t really happy with mine because one side looks too orange and the other looked too black. If I could go back to the past I would use more varieties of colours and make it more lighter.
Eco Park
In the Eco Park we explored Hong Kong’s waste management. There were many diagrams and games that we could play so we could learn about the ways of waste management. We watched videos and there was a really cool room that looked like a real landfill. It also had a fake garbage truck. I enjoyed going on this trip.
North East New Territories Landfill (NENT)
The NENT landfill is a really cool place. Before I went I thought it would be really stinky and there would be junk flying everywhere. But it smelled like nothing and it was really organized (Well, not like perfect but still good!). I think it was really cool how everything works there. The best part was when we were going out of the landfill and the bus got sprayed with water to clean the bus. (Of course, outside only. We wouldn’t want to get all wet!)
Hong Kong Happy Valley Cemetery
We went to the Hong Kong Happy Valley Cemetery to explore Hong Kong’s history.
Friends!
In grade 5 I got whole bunch of CRAZY and FUN friends! The best part about grade 5 was all about friends! I just can’t live without them! I also have very, very special friends and we are all BEST FRIENDS! We also made a name for our group. We are called FACH. It stands for Florence, Anna, Cherie, Heidi.
Here are some photos of us!
Here is a special poster I made for my BEST-FRIEND-IN-THE-WHOLE-WIDE-WORLD Cherie!
