On Wednesday, grade 5 went to camp to with the dragonfly camp group. Dragonfly is a group of people who have organized a camp for schools on top of a big…….tall……..hill…… The place we went to camp was in Cheung Chau!
During camp, we have done lots of activities and one of my favorite activities were the raft building. In raft building we had 6 bamboo sticks and 5 floating tires (Floating rings) and lots of strong sting. The teachers divided us into groups, and as a team we had to build a raft using different knots to make the raft float. When we finished building our raft, we had to go by groups and see who’s raft floats well and who’s raft doesn’t. My group was the last group to test but before we got on, we had to put on a life vest incase something happens because we are going to see how far we can go without us sinking. One of the groups raft hit a rock and busts their Floating ring so one of the dragonfly staff had to swim out and get them back to shore.
One of the new things I tried was the Tie-dying. I have never Tie dyed before and it was really fun! First, we had to bring a plane white T-shirt so we can use it to Tie-dye. Second, we had to soak our T-shirts in salt water so it would be ok when we spray paint it. And third is to have fun while
dying our T-shirts!
One of the challenges I have tried was the bike riding. For me I thought it would be easy but the last time I rode a bike was in 2009! After a while of getting used to riding a bike again ……. our dragonfly helper meade us follow him on our bikes, around Cheuch Chau.
Because we can’t all be in one group, (Because grad 5 has alot of people) we got divided into color groups. There were many groups, there was the blue, red, orange, green and yellow. Each group made a group name. but my group was the yellow group and our name was the Lemon Sqaush! And the blue team was called Blue Gangstas, green was called Green Eggs and Ham, orange was called the Tangerine Army, and the red team was called the Spicy Hot Chilly Peppers.
Well Now that you know what we all did in Camp, we had lots of fun! But now we are also all full of MOSQUITO BITES!

After camp, I have to agree about the mosquito bites- they are there in abundance, don’t you agree?
