by 063708 on January 31, 2013

Knights castle is a book that a group of people and I have been reading. This book is a magical adventure about 4 children, their names are Ann,Jack,Roger and Eliza. There was a toy soldier that Rogers ancestors had passed down from generation to generations then the toy soldier came to life. After that event Roger and Anns dad gets sick so they have to go to a doctor in Baltimore,Maryland. This is where the 2 of their cousins Jack and Eliza come in.Roger and Anns aunt had bought a model castle, toy soldiers and a doll house for them. Then the magic starts,in then middle of the night Roger gets transported to a dream he has and a magical adventure unfolds from there on.I think this book has a very interesting story with twists that are very entertaining.I recommend this book to more children than adults because the material could be more entertaining to the young than to the middle aged.

Camp was Awesome!!!!!!

by 063708 on December 3, 2012

Last week on Tuesday to Friday I was at a camp in Zhao Qing. At camp I noticed that the meaning of camp slowly shifted when we got older. In grade 4 we slept in tents, grade 5 we slept in dormitories and last week we slept in a hotel room.Another problem was that it was raining and because of that it got very cold. But besides the down falls in the weather camp was a good chunk of  time away from being yelled at by our parents. At camp we all learned how to make ink stones,we saw the process of making the stones then we made our own.I personally thought that the ink stone was a good souvenir from our trip.Another piece of art we made was a chinese painting, this was my favorite activity because It was some how entertaining and mine tured out well.Other things we did were cableway hike and something we call the great race and my favorite was the chinese painting.

Young Americans

by 063708 on November 15, 2012

We started Young Americans on monday and we ended yesterday.Yesterday was the final day to practice and perfect our performance for  the night.First thing we did was was how we get on stage. This part was not that simple but not that hard. Then we did our opening number.I  sort of liked this dance because we were moving a lot and having lots of fun.Next were the coral songs. This part was my favorite part because I got to sing and there was no movement also when we sang the songs it sounded very nice. The next thing was a song called Happiness.I didn’t like this medley more than the others. This was because I didn’t think it made sense. And finally the rock and roll medley. This was my favorite dance and song because at the very end you were allowed to do what ever you wanted. Then some of  the grade six students a did solos on disney songs. Then for the finale we did the lion king.

Book review : Treasure Island

by 063708 on November 8, 2012

Today I am going to review the book Treasure Island. This book is about a kid named Jim Hawkins. He finds a map that  leads him to treasure is Island. This book is very interesting when you get to the unrevealing of the story.I liked how the story unfolded from a introduction,to a story. What I didn’t like was the time that it took to introduce the characters.I also liked the different personalities of the characters. So far I like the book but some my not because it’s a mystery book.

Crossing the river

by 063708 on May 25, 2012

  • On the weekend, friends of mine went camping. They were camping on a small island in the middle of the lake. There were eight adults and two children in all.
  • When they went to cross the lake and return home their boat was missing. They searched and searched but all they could find was an old canoe. It wasn’t as big as the boat and they were worried it wouldn’t carry them all. So, they tested it and found the boat could carry either:
  • • One adult
  • • One or two children
  • At first they thought some of them would be stranded forever, but finally, they figured out how to get them all safely across the lake.
  • Can you figure it out?
  • —————
  • Repeat the problem using counters. I want to know the number of crossings it takes to shift the 8 adults and 2 children.
  • —————
  • What if one of the adults was sick and didn’t end up going camping? How would that change the number of crossing?
  • —————
  • Let’s adjust the number of adults. How does the number of crossings change when the number of adults changes? Record all your data. Can you find an algebraic pattern?

Today we did a math challenge It was called crossing the river. Now I will explain how you can solve this very mental non physical problem. The instructions are on top this was supposed to test our algebra and if you can find the the way than try this problem with other amounts of adults.I thought this was a bit hard because my group was always finding the wrong numeral.Other than that big downfall this challenge was very logical and interesting to solve !
