In the past week, we had been away from Hong Kong and into the wilderness of Chiang Rai, Thailand. We were away for 6 days and 5 nights. About 105 Students went on the experience week trip to Chiang Rai, I can assure you guys that 105/105 of those students enjoyed the trip. It was a great experience for all. There was a tremendous amount of activities to do; Kayaking, Climbing, Surviving in the Jungle, Thai Cooking, Night Games, Field Games, Sala Games, Team Technology 1 & 2, Confidence Course, Archery, Hill-Tribe Hiking, Mini Olympics, Building Bricks, Community Games with underprivileged Children and some other activities,

On this trip I feel I was a leader, (Communicator, Risk-Taker and Principled) as I was always guiding my peers and supporting them to do more for example, the climbing, on the hardest wall I was getting really tired half way up as I was climbing upside down. But I did not stop I kept on going and after my turn my friends were getting really tired too, I continued to support and tell them that they can do it. Eventually they finished it and they were very thankful. I communicated, and I risk-taked by myself and I was supporting my peers. On the trip I also feel I was caring as I donated bult bricks for the community and made them have fun. We played games and after that, I decided to give them my rugby ball, they were very thankful. On the same day I also bought 2 kids ice-cream which they may not have been allowed to buy. I made them feel happy by playing games with them and sharing a little bit of the Hong Kong culture as well as learning the Thai culture. On the trip I faced many new challenges. First of all the massive courage needed to excel in the insect infested environment. The activities were great but the insects were the worst. There was every single but you could think of. Although that it was the best school trip yet!

I would fall under the number 2 category as I was concerned about my level of my understanding of fractions. I was concerned as I was unaware of some situations. Including the number line solution to problems. I tried to figure this out and I asked my parents but I still did not understand what it was all about. I then made a bad decision by not asking the teacher so when it came to the test it was very hard to understand so I only received half marks. This is one example of some concern over fractions and decimals. On the other hand I was also quite relaxed about everything else as it was very easy to organize it. This unit was challenging in just a few ways as I had to learn new strategies to solve new problems and equations wich were hard to catch on at first but then easier the more I practiced. The hardest thing was probably the number lines. My effort in class and at home was reflected on my assessments as I did practice, but I never went to solve my issues so when it went into the test I struggle with the things I did not study and find out.

These past few weeks we have been learning, reading, discussing about Refugees around the world. We each created our own Question and documentary/movie about refugees. My question was ” How does the Australian Government Deal the Amounts of Refugees Seeking Asylum”? I researched through government documents and Human Rights Treaties. These helped me understand the changes through out time and the current laws and policies. Before the project, we read “The Other Side of The Truth”, ‘Beverly Naidoo’. It was a great book which demonstrated great truth about what happens to refugees nowadays. It clearly showed the process of what some families have to do, for a better life for their youngest. I liked this novel first of all, through its emotional applicable words. By this I mean, how it was so interactive with the audience, it was so realistic that I thought I was part of the story. I also liked the suspense that was built and the striking conflicts and resolutions, as they brought the Characters to life. I used the background information that I learnt from the novel to base my research of for my project. I applied this by formulating questions from my earlier queries about Refugees in Australia. In this project I learnt so many new ways to use Imovie to create a successful movie. This will help me be a more successful editor in future occasions. I used the tools much more and created a more complex film that I had ever before. I personally liked this project as we had so much freedom of what we wanted to do, and we were able to research based on our own queries. I was one of the few who worked by myself and I enjoyed that as I was able to use my ideas and not have conflicts between two ideas. Although 2 brains is better than 1, this was not a lengthy project so it was a little unnecessary. It would have also been very hard to communicate with your partner. I feel I worked really hard and made a really good presentation as I used all the skills from the learning in English class and then combined them and created a movie to answer ” Why do people take extreme risks to leave their own country?”

I will continue to try to do this as I am a leader who helps.

At the moment I am working with special needs children & adults ( Down syndrome, Autism, Brain Tumor etc..). I help coach them to be able to play soccer. Theses kids are faced with daily challenges and the opportunity that allows them to have a hobby that every one can enjoy is fantastic. Some people have worse needs than others. I am continually going on Monday nights the football club were the people learn. This is great as they are learning kinesthetically just as most other human beings would. My service is to teach soccer/football to the people. This helps my community as these people are part of our community and I am teaching them how to have fun as in some cases when having a special needs these opportunities can be taken away from them. I am bringing back that opportunity. My contribution is great as I go on almost every monday night to support these people. I will definitely continue to do this as these issues are of great importance and it is key to help others.

After watching last years documentaries I see that minimal effort was put in as the sound quality and the video effects were poor. I enjoyed watching the slideshows as they flowed although the audio was mumbled in the background. It was also cool how sometimes they were able to add subtitles as good documentaries have them. I wish they would have put more effort into their work as the outcome would have been so much better as with technology you can achieve almost anything. Hopefully my group will work hard and thorough throughout and do our best. If we can do that then I am sure we will do a great job. What if they had put more effort in? I think they would have had a much more successful outcome and they would feel proud of their work. Ours is yet to come.

I feel I am always proactive and looking about the future. I do this because you need to do things for a reason. I feel I demonstrate the always win attitude because I am always competitive and most of my friends know that too. I think I act like this as I believe I need to exceed all expectations. My life mission is to be the best man I can be. Sometimes I fall into it as my family brought me up to always try my best and put the best effort i can in. I like being competitive but sometimes it gets the best of me. Sometimes I feel I am over competitive. Although im very competitive I believe im fair about it. By that I mean not cheating and pulling others down with me but lifting myself to be the best i can. To Improve it I believe that I can clam myself down and relax more often and just act casually.

During Science Class we were assigned to create a bird and figure out structural and behavioral adaptations, by that I mean how their body has changed or formed to fit its environment. For behavioral adaptations means how they choose to act in their environment. I feel that I worked really well outside of the class as I spent my time effectively and I worked and researched to always improve my status of my creation. As you can probably tell my bird is called the red-tipped arrow, I chose to come up with this name as it is a forceful bird with a sharp and deadly bill with bright red wings. I also feel that I worked well during class as I was always on task and working efficiently. This minimized the time I needed to spend at home even though I was working to exceed the expectations. I feel that my time management was exceptional and I worked well. If I was to start over I would definitely describe my birds environment deeper as it was unclear. Unfortunately I forgot to hand-in my bibliography, I also would take everything deeper into my critical thinking. I feel that was very successful in my work. I listed and explained 7 structural adaptations, 5 behavioral and they all connected into my environment.
