March 11 Weekly Update

by 053603 on March 13, 2011

- Dodgeball Intramurals

- Mathematics: Geometry

- New historical fiction novels in Lit. Circles

- New Read-aloud: The Devil’s Arithmetic

- New UOI: Where We Are In Place And Time

In class, we started our new UOI: Where We Are In Place And Time. It’s about knowing about what experience people have gone through. For example, Anne Frank, was a person who was experiencing the holocaust. And, also in Lit. Circles, we got new books based on histories. Such as, The Roman Mysteries, Mud City, to name a few. And, we also had a field trip in The Hong Kong Cemetery. But I talked about that in my previous weekly update. I am also looking forward, to our next field trip to the Hong Kong History Museum, where we will be making an exhibit there.

In class we have a new read-aloud called ” The Devil’s Arithmetic “. It’s about a girl called Hannah, who gets sucked back into the Jewish Holocaust and that’s where she learns her lesson to be lucky about being alive. The information I have here is based on the back of this book but so far, we’ve only read 1 chapter of it. I am quite looking forward to the next chapters of the book.

In our Lit. Circles, we have gotten a few new books based on our new UOI listed above. There not really much to write about this but the book i’m reading is called ” The Roman Mysteries ” Which was about 2 girls trying to find to find their friend ” Jonathan “.

I’ve enjoyed reading your updates and watching your PSA, but am really looking forward to seeing what you do with some of the challenges in the BBB!
