The Atom #24

Today, the whole grade 6 had a meeting in the library pit and Mr.Woods made an AWESOME presentation and walked us through the action category. During the presentation he gave me a lot of ideas on what to do and we talked about scenarios ( examples of actions ) and we used The ladder of participation to reflect on our actions. The action ladder is a ladder which shows where you are at. The main thing when you take action is to be initiative and self directed.

Out of this ladder, I think my action can’t make a change. And at the start I think my action is self initiated and directed but actually it’s not self initiated and directed, but it is a bit of self initiated and directed, consulted and informed because my action is going to classes and talking to them about the Taliban and read them some Deborah Ellis books ( Mud City ).

The Exhibition is not yet DUN DUN DUN DUN ( WHY ? ) because we haven’t even finish our action yet, the ACTION part is where we need to take a action due to our investigation, therefore my investigation is about politics, but my main research is about the Taliban, so I think of donating to UNICEF because I can’t really go to afghanistan and help, though just donating to Unicef isn’t just enough but my other action could be going to a class and talk to them about the Taliban and read a book called Mud City by Deborah Ellis, and my other Action will be joining with my friend to a government services and help people.

After the Exhibition which is a next day I didn’t post about what happened yesterday.

When it was the day of presenting and the start of the Exhibition I thought that I was going to fail and it was going to be boring, but until the first day it wasn’t that bad except for my 2 other group mates because both of them always had conflicts and one of my group members made my other group member cry a few times, so it was very annoying because I was always in the middle, but our group still overcame this problem. Til the night of presenting I was very nervous, but after all I wanted to have one more night or you could say I wanted it to be my daily routine because I thought when people came to my booth I would present to them but I was having a conversation and I mean really awesome conversations or you could say that I don’t like it but I love it.

Overall, the improvements I need to make during this process of the Exhibition is that I need to be more careful of every step I take and my decision. And I have to use time wisely, in addition to presenting or talking I need to pronounce better, not to stutter and I should speak louder

Today is the day that followed the Exhibition, and I would like to recount on the memorable event yesterday.

Throughout the whole course of the Exhibition, from the preparatory stage to the presentation day, I thought that I was not going to do my job well and it was going to be boring, but to my surprise, the first day wasn’t that bad except for my 2 other group mates because the two of them always had conflicts, and indeed one of my group members made my other group member cry a few times. Therefore it was very difficult for me because I was always in the middle, but fortunately our group managed to overcome this problem. To be honest, I was still very nervous last night even the exhibition was already over. But strangely enough, I wished that the exhibition would last one more night, or you could say I wanted it to be my daily routine, because I am sure I would do a much better job had there been a second chance. I hoped that I could present to every visitor who came to my booth. However, it was practically impossible last night because I was having conversations with some visitors, and I mean really awesome conversations, while the others came! I must say that the preparation for the exhibition was hard and not always enjoyable, but I really loved how it turned out!

Overall, the improvements I need to make during this process of the Exhibition are that I need to be more careful with every step I took and the decisions I made. Moreover, I have to use time more wisely and effectively. Regarding my presentation and oral skills, I need to pronounce better and speak more loudly, and not to stutter.

Sorry, for not posting a blog post since march 22 2013 because there was a exhibition going on as you all know and I was very busy so, that why and it is going to end at 8:30 tonight so i’m really looking forward to it but I am still a bit nervous for presenting to the parents.

So this is the second day of our exhibition and we have done some research and still in the tuning in stage and almost starting our finding out stage into our exhibition. Basically what we did today was talking about what we have researched and one of my group members and I thought our other group members about hong kong politics such as the names of various parties.

Today was our first day getting together with our group members and supervisor, so I was very excited and enthusiastic about this exhibition, but the only problem is that the other two members of my group have very different values which caused arguments. But the others were going quite well because everything was settled down and we know what  we need to do. We initiated interviews with LEGCO so I think that our group is making progress quite rapidly .But my only concern is that when we are planning to build the white board one of my group make didn’t let anyone to voice out their opinions. Anyways, I am still looking forward to this exhibition.

Hello, this week we started a new unit and it is How We Organize Ourselves. Our central idea is “Public Spaces Provide People With Opportunities To Make Connections And Establish A Sense Of Community.” Then we made a collage on different types of space like public areas and private areas.

On Wednesday Mr. Steve Stiller taught us different types of beats in music class and we played a song called 1e + a. It was awesome! The next day we had Mr.Hung, who is an expert in Adobe. He taught us how to change colors and make HD images etc. At the end of the day our class watched Matt Harding videos.

It was quite awhile of silence in my blog since not updating it, so sorry.

So I’m back from the christmas holiday and back to school in 2012 wait…. sorry it’s supposed to be 2013. This week was a fast week and we started tuning in into our process journals and going through the expectation of the Grade 6 Exhibition which starts on April 24 and I hope that the exhibition will be awesome though there will be some though days.

Yesterday,  I guess a lot of people got amazed by the artist in residence Steve Stiller. Steve Stiller is a professional Australian percussionist and we were very lucky to invite him to be our artist and residence and to perform to us then each class will get to work with him and I’m looking forward working with him.

Today, our class had 3rd CAMS Pretest, the 3rd CAMS Pretest was harder because it was standard Grade 6 level test and the last two test we’ve done were advanced Grade 5 level as you can say.

This week  was busy  because we had our Chinese Unit test on December 12th, post-test for CAMS on Thursday (which was a math test), and a summative task for How the World Works. Our class started working on our math stations with Mrs. Manson on exponents and shared our work to on the Math Menu with each other. Though this was a busy week the Grade went to Wan Chai to watch “Godspell”.
