As a thinker, I exercise initiative in applying critical and creative thinking skills to approach complex problems. To challenge myself with complex mathematics problems for instance, I represented my school in the annual South East Asian Mathematics Competition (SEAMC) for international schools in the region. I achieved the top rank in our school and applied critical thinking skills in unfamiliar contexts, showing my initiative and dedication to solving problems. We were also given long-term questions to work on over the course of the competition, which were significantly more complex than those I had seen in my academic work at school.
One of my favourite hobbies is photography, which is where I get to apply my creative thinking skills. As a photographer, I am always on the lookout for creative ways to compose shots to make them stand out from the crowd. This means hunting for new angles and narratives to intrigue viewers through photos, which is a ‘problem’ that every aspiring photographer is faced with. Here is a sample of some of my work to evidence this:
