The Artifact Game!

by 053535 on November 21, 2011

The artifact game is when we look at an artifact and make guesses about what it is and

write it down and discuss about what we wrote. When everyone has had a go at their guesses, then we find out what it really is. The guesses have to be serious, related to our UOI (unit of Inquiry) and not “goofy” guesses. This game is based on our UOI, which is history and perspective work. So by writing our thoughts about the artifact down we are telling people our thoughts and perception and how we look at things. Look at the photo above and write a comment about what you think it is, how old do you think it is, where does it comes from and what it was used for. Thanks for participating.

Hi Dynamo 16
I found this interesting website on “the Strange Stones from Ica, Peru”

http://chapmanresearch.org/PDF/The%20Strange%20ICA%20Stones%20of%20Peru.pdf

If you read through all the research, one theory is that the stones are thousands of years old. They have pictures of people and dinosaurs on the stones together. Some stones have other pictures, which suggests the Ica people were very intelligent.

The questions that come up are: did dinosaurs live at the same time as people? Did the Ica people have super intelligence for their time?

Another theory is that the stones are a hoax – not true – made by someone recently to trick tourist to buy the stones.

Have a look at the website, and let me know what you think. Are the stones real or are they a hoax?

Hi Scooter,
I think you’re right on track. It is something very old and I think it’s very important.
Lot’s of people disagree on what it means if the events you are talking about really happened.
Does anyone else want to make a guess on what it might be and why it is so important as a scientific discovery.

Amazing! I was so fascinated with your artifact, I did some research on-line. I think I know what it is now, because I saw similar artifacts and their description.

Let me give you a clue, it is not a door-stop in a child’s room. If I am right I think it is really-really old.

If this is the same type of artifact that I read about on-line, then it is really something very unusual and important to scientific discovery.

I never thought that the events surrounding this artifact could have ever happened. It is new to me and hard to believe!

Was this possible?

I am not going to say what I think it is yet, so that other people can continue to play your artifact game. But I will follow your blog to see what others have thought about your artifact.

I would have commented earlier, but I was distracted by your “Draw” and your “Snow Line” games…

Okay, it is pretty hard to tell what this artifact is and how it was used. I zoomed way in to see the details. It looks like a drawing of a few dinosaurs. I see a triceratops – a large plant-eating dinosaur that had three horns on its face. There is also another unidentified dinosaur in the background.

Perhaps, it could be part of a cave drawing from the ancient cavemen days. But maybe not, because this would mean that Cavemen lived at the same time as the dinosaurs, which I don’t think was the case.

Perhaps another dinosaur made the drawing? Nope, I don’t think so, as dinosaurs’ brains were pretty small, and they didn’t know how to use tools.

The artifact is shaped like a stone. Perhaps it is a carving on a stone? But why? Is it a small stone that could be used as a necklace or a type of money? or, is is a big stone used for spiritual ceremony in ancient times? or is it a stone used as a door-stop in a child’s room?

I give-up, so I am going to see what I can find on the internet…
