Eco-Park Field Trip

by 053518 on February 2, 2012

Hi! It’s been very long since I wrote my last blog post so here is a post about an eco-park field trip we went to today. We started with an hour long bus ride, and when we arrived, we got taken on a tour. We had these SmartCards that allowed us to watch a mini presentation or game about all of the waste produced in Hong Kong. I learned that there are four major types of waste: Domestic waste, Construction waste, Chemical waste and Special waste. I also learned that there are 3 landfills in Hong Kong, and they will all get filled up in around several years. The second part of the tour was more interesting, as we got to see the recycling plant, and  we learned that the there are 7 types of plastic and in order to be recycled, it has to go through sorting, slicing and then melting where we get these plastic pellets that can be made into things. I found that this tour was very interesting and amazing because we got to see it actually being recycled, which is a thing not many people really do get to see.
