Author visit: Eoin Colfer

Today, as part of the Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival 2012, we had an author come to our school. The author was Eoin Colfer (Eoin is pronounced Owen), the author of the Artemis Fowl series. I have never read any of the Artemis Fowl books, let alone even seen them before, and I have absolutely no idea what they are about. But I did learn quite a lot about the characters or, more specifically, the people who the characters in the books were based off. In the books, Artemis Fowl is apparently based off one of Colfer’s brothers who was able to get anyone out of trouble. Artemis’s two younger brothers were based off Colfer’s two sons Sean and Finn. When Eoin Colfer was giving his presentation, he talked a lot about experiences he had which had given him ideas for his books. He made us all laugh a lot .
