Camp Reflection on my First day

by 043308 on November 29, 2011

This years camp was okay but much more fun than the previous years that I have experienced at CDNIS because we got to do a lot more interesting things at camp, read more to find out what I did on this years trip.

This year we went to china by bus to Zhao Qing accompanied by the grade 6 teachers including the assistant teacher Ms. Tan. The rules for this trip is not to bring any electronic devices except the teachers and other adults.

On the first day the whole grade 6 went to school and met up with their class to see which teams we will be in and which group we will be with for the rest of the trip. There are 4 different color groups. There is a Blue group, a Green group, a Red group and a yellow group. There are also small teams  in each color groups, for example The Blue group is C but the while the Red, Yellow or Green could be either A, B or D. Once we are split up into our groups we will be assigned to our small teams,  the small teams will be named the letter that you were assigned to and would be given a number either 1, 2 or 3,  for example my small team was C 1 from the Blue group.  I was in the blue group and my group leader was Mrs. Kingsinger  and our team is C 1.

After we were split up into the right groups we headed for the bus. The bus ride was about a 1-2 hour ride to the border, I took a 30mins nap. Next we went through the immigration. After the immigrations we went strait to another bus that took us to the hotel that we stayed at for the first night. The Bus ride was about a 3-4 hour ride, I took a 2 hour nap.

When we finally reached the hotel we immediately checked into our hotel rooms and went to our rooms. We got a little time to pack our day pack with our 6 essentials, the 6 essentials are a 1 liter water bottle, mosquito repellant, sunblock, raincoat, hat and our process journal. After we got our 6 essentials we went back to the main lobby to meet back with our group.
Next we took a 45-30mins walk to a place where we leaned chinese painting. First the lady taught us which tools to use and how to use it. She also told us about how to tools were made. First she talked about the paper that we painted on. The paper was made out of recycled paper and was had made. The paint brushes were also hand made and the brushes was made out of animal fur. She told us that the we could also use our hair as the tip of the brushes but it has to be baby hair because our hairs are easy to have split ends. We painted the picture of mountains, trees and a boat. She taught us step by step.

After painting it was time to go back and to the hotel for dinner. We ate Pizza and salad. The food was horrible so I didn’t eat much, luckily my mom packed me lots of snacks so after dinner I ate some of my snakes.
After dinner we went to visit the market. We went took a 10min walk to the markets to ask questions and to learn about how people are in the markets. We interviewed shop keepers and even some costumers. After getting as much information as we could we got a little time to shop before we went back to our hotel. I bought a bracelet for 15 rem-in-bi but the original price was 25 rem-in-bi so I got to bargain. I also bought a wallet for 15 rem-in-bi but I didn’t get to bargain because the shop keeper already made the price cheaper for us. Then we went straight to the hotel and to our rooms.
We only got to spend one night at the hotel, so we didn’t need to unpack our stuff.

Sorry guys I had no time to finish so you’d have to read the next post to find out more about my second day and maybe third day. Hope you enjoyed reading this post.
