The stress level I would put on the graph right now is around 3. I had just finished the test so a huge amount of stress has gone off my back.

The most challenging thing in this unit was figuring out word problems. I need to improve on completing my word problems. I always can’t tell the differ from a word problem and a normal problem. The textbook problems and normal problems were very easy for me.

At home, I’ve done a lot of studying with my tutor and with myself. If I want to improve, I’ll have to attend some math revision sessions with our math teacher. I wasn’t too pleased with my assessment results.

I liked doing some interesting activities, we could get questions from moodle, so that was great!

When I started reading this book from the beginning, I liked the author’s way of writing. As soon as I finished a couple chapters of the book, I was totally hooked into the book. Not only is this book very interesting, but I felt like it was very entertaining. For this book, I picked up a couple things, I liked how the author put a very interesting plot and very interesting hook that instantly grabbed my attention.

For this project, the important skill I learned was effective visual aids. Before, all of my presentation didn’t have the so called “hook.” A hook something that gets the reader’s attention. A hook could be a very funny paragraph, or it could be lots of pictures and different colors. It could also be something unique like 3D or something that is the trend nowadays.

Something I liked about in this project was the skills I’ve learned, the skills I’ve learned now could not only help me now but could also help me in the future, wether Im in school, or doing something for my job in the future etc…

For the project, I was working with a partner, I will be totally honest with myself, I should have chose to do my presentation alone because that way I feel I would get a better grade. I normally do not like to be honest and negative but honestly, if I worked alone, I feel I would get more work done much faster.

Overall, I was a little disappointed with our presentation we created, if I could do this presentation again, I would have more information. Our presentation was under time and it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.

After completing and presenting my Author’s Choice presentation, I have a lot of different thoughts.

One of the main thoughts of improvement are the way I presented it, I felt like I rushed it a bit too quick, and I talked way too quick. I rushed the presentation a bit because I was nervous when standing up in front of the classroom. One of my all time weaknesses was stage fright, even though I read very quick, I felt that the way I was talking was fluent and easy to understand. The skills I’ve refined the most are visual aids. If I had a chance to make my presentation again, I would make my slides more detailed and read a bit slowly. That is because the fact that I read very quick, made it so when I finished my presentation, It wasn’t close to 3 minutes.

I also thought adding pictures into my presentation was a very good idea, it made the viewers understand more of the things I’m trying to explain and get more engaged in the presentation. The reason why I put these pictures is because I wanted to make the audience understand my personification quotes more easier. For example “The powerful wind roared against my face” and “Savage rain poured down from the sky.” Now back to the things I need to improve, when talking about grammar, grammar is my worst enemy. Its not the fact that I don’t know the facts about grammar, its me having careless mistakes all over my short story. To solve this problem, I have to keep proofreading my short story over and over again till I’m certain that theres no mistakes. It would be also nice if I added more advanced vocabulary to imagine the place in your mind. This is also called imagery, there are different types of imagery. The different types are feel, touch, smell, see and hear. The setting in my short story was based on auditory (hear) and (visual) see.

As you can see on the top, this is my setting paragraph from my final draft. I felt like that the setting paragraph was worked most hard on and I spent most time and effort on it. In the end, when I read it, it feels like its very well done. The fact that I used lots of different vocabulary like, “Towering, hazy, ear-splitting, thick murky, savage, thick murky, chilly, etc..”

Overall, I thought that for this english assessment, I am confident that I’ve done pretty well for the assessment.

During our patterns unit, I loved doing textbook homework, this gave me a learning experience and I’ve then learnt lots of more things connected to patterns. I hated doing tests the most because I felt it was a bit challenging. I’ve learnt a lot about patterns more than I knew before. I want to improve my math at fractions. In my notebook, I have noted down my homework, so when there is a test coming up, I can check my work to revise. At dinner table problems and other problems, I thought I did pretty well.

After creating a bird and showing it to the classroom. I have looked again at other birds and I have noted some things that i thought were interesting and are a must need for any structure. These include creativity, organization, unique colors, eye-catching and has interesting facts. The strengths and weaknesses I faced during this challenge did not stop me to make my final product. The strengths I had was taking down notes and thinking of ideas. The weaknesses I had during this assessment was doing paper mache and painting structures. I worked hard in and out of school. I always plan ahead of me and thought about my work. Out of school, I don’t paint or do paper mache, but I take notes for my bird and for its environment. At school, I paint the environment and the bird. Inside of the classroom, I work very hard and I try my best to succeed. Overall, I managed my time well and I have done very well. If I would be able to redo this project, I would use more creativity and add more thought into it. For criterion C, I think I did pretty well for my environment, I am confident at this time’s science assessment.

Shi HuangDi Unit:

During this unit of humanities, I have enhanced my understanding with the Chinese history. We’ve learnt that Shi Huang Di, was China’s first emperor. And he had good sides and bad sides. He was the first Chinese emperor of China, and many of us think that he’s the best emperor. We also learnt how to do plenty things. We’ve learnt how to use the essay outline, making it easier for us to make a essay. We have also learnt how to take notes more effectively, for example, making a small t-chart when taking notes. We also have learnt how to use the C.R.A.P principles when making a poster. Lastly, also learning how to work in a group more effectively. The things we’ve learnt from the unit is truly amazing and interesting. Using the C.R.A.P principles, contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity, making our poster.

<—–

Our Shi Huang Di Poster.

We implemented the crap principles when creating the poster. The font is eyecatching and easy to read. We also added pictures to increase visibility for the poster. We added a green background to the corners and the pictures. Therefore also enhancing visibility. Therefore making it eye catching.

In Humanities we are studying Shi Huang Di. I am looking at health and social education as the Area of interaction to investigate how has Shi Huang Di impact the transportation in old China days. Shi Huang Di has invented many things to improve the transport system. For example, making the trace harness for the horses who were carrying heavy loads and goods. He has also changed to cart axis to make the horses carry more loads safely and more safe at the same time.

Today, I will talk about the mountain next to our school Cdnis. The amusement park Ocean park wants to expand their park to a bigger part because they are losing profit. And recently, Disney Land has expanded their amusement park. Ocean Park wants to expand on the little hill beside the school. The hills Ocean Park wants to build on is the only hill that is fully green and doesn’t have buildings on it. Next class, we will go to Nam Long Shan and see what species of plants, animals, trees are important and see if there are valuable resources, if so. We will list a list of species, stating which plants and trees etc… are more important. This is also a very important hill because it is one of the last mountains we have in Aberdeen.

Parents:

1) I’ve learnt about Anson’s progress at school in a few subject areas including Maths, French, and Music.

2) What surprised me is that besides the knowledge from textbooks, my child is learning different attributes and attitudes. I think these are important elements for a child to understand in the progress of learning.

3) I believe Anson’s strength is his fluent speaking skills in English and Mandarin. He has shown his speaking skills in front of us while doing the SLLR and we are quite surprised that he is able to speak fluent English and Mandarin especially using it to explain something else.

4) Anson has shown the greatest growth and development in speaking and music. We remember when Anson was young, we were afraid that he is shy in front of audience, although he is not always a confident speaker, we have seen some improvement in this area. Also, Anson has shown his knowledge in using Finale and Garageband. In addition to what we’ve known about him, we could see that Anson is a creative person in the music field as we could recall remembering looking at him “fooling” around garageband and trying to do different type of music remix.

5) Anson needs to work on improving his self-confidence when speaking in front of audience. Although he has improved comparing to previous year, he could be better in doing it. Moreover, Anson appeared to be nervous when we first arrived the classroom, this shows how he isn’t completely comfortable with speaking to us at first. Again I think it relates to the self-confident that he needs to work on. Also, Anson wasn’t comfortable when he was explaining his classroom to us in French. We understand that French may be an uneasy language for Anson to speak, but we are definitely looking forward for further improvement in his french speaking skills.

Students:

1) By preparing the Student led learning review, I have learnt to be more organized, and to be more independent.

2) The most challenging thing I found when doing my SLLR, I had lots of trouble overcoming stage fright, I was really shy and had very little confidence when I walked into the classroom.

3) If I would been able to redo the SLLR, I would have tried to practiced it for a few more times, have less stage fright, and become confidence.

4) The best part was when I was playing the math game ( I have who has ) with my parents, we all found it fun.

Lastly, I think I had a great time in the SLLR.

On Tuesday 20, our class went to the Alan Dick memorial walk, it took place in the Aberdeen sports ground, at about 8:20, we took off, reception – grade 2 was allowed to ride the bus. but meanwhile, the rest of us had to walk… , though it was tiring, it was a nice day outside, So I didn’t mind. When we reached there, we went on the benches, and when we got organized, we went down to start the walk. Good thing it was a walk, not a sprint, so even if I walk for 2 hours, I didn’t even sweat, the purpose of this walk, is to remember Alan Dick, our past principle, he was a very great and confident man, he used to make us laugh almost everyday, even when the homework was hard or when we had hard times, he would make us laugh.

The walk lasted about 2 hours, after those two hours, we had lunch, provided by chartwells, we had hot dog, a cookie and a banana. It was very tasty, sadly we couldn’t get seconds. After we ate lunch, we listened to a few performances from the grade 6-7 jazz band, the band was really amazing and provided great entertainment for us, we played tag on the field for about 30 minutes. And then we were ready to go back to school!

We had to walk back, sadly at school, we had two periods of Chinese . Overall, I got some memories of Alan Dick, and this was a really great field trip, I got to walk with my good friends. We talked about some stuff. It was an amazing day, R.I.P Mr.Dick, may you be in our hearts forever

In the past two weeks, we have been reading a book called ” Island of the blue dolphins “, my group club consists of Sophia,Rachel,Nicole and me. So far this book is really interesting, I’ve learnt a lot while reading this book. This book talks about a girl named Karana, which her father passed away, and her brother got killed by a dog, she was stranded away in the island. She has to survive by catching fish etc…

The main character of this story is Karana.

Karana is a risk taker, because when she was stranded in the island. She didn’t worry, or cried. She was very brave.

Karana is also very independent, because she has to catch fish in the sea. She wanted to catch the devil fish, even she knows it has poison. She still was very brave.

Lastly, Karana is also very principle to her parents.

One of the tasks I had to do for my math menu was to watch a brainpop video and explain 3 ways of simplifying factions, so lets get started.

One way to simply factions is to divide factions, this step is for me, most simple and thats why I choose this as my main choice.

Another way to simply factions is to simply by cutting it in half, this strategy is easy to do but isn’t 100% accurate.

The last way you can simply faction, is to just draw shapes and cut them in half, this strategy works but is not 100% also. It also takes a while too!

After reading the book Brian’s Winter for our book club. I have learned a lot, for example I’ve learned how to survive in the wilderness better. So anyways lets get started. During winter, Brian wasn’t prepared, he wasn’t geared up for the cold Winter. Brian was only prepared for Summer, not Winter. During the summer, when he first crash landed, he only had a hatchet to survive with. and with only a hatchet to survive with is very hard. It takes a lot of skill and luck. Luckily in the end, he gets a very big surprise. After reading this book, I was very happy that Brian was still alive in the end, and wasn’t killed by some kind of animal for example, a bear. I really enjoyed this book because it is well written, interesting, and very funny. It gives you some ideas of what will happen if you were stranded in the L shape forest. Overall, I rate this book 9 out of 10.
